These are great for those of us who like chapter divides on iTunes! Thank you!
Mucky pup, did you ever do variant covers for series 4 and the Christmss specials of Dorian? I think it was you who did series 3 and I've always appreciated that!
Sorry for the slightly OT post, fellow DS fans!

I listened to them all today/tonight! Loved all four stories--and I agree. They feel very true to DS' format, dovetail nicely with the history of both the TV series AND the BF audios. Four original stories that add to the ongoing saga but happen on the fringes. All four readings are wonderful--and I was really impressed with the variety of the stories. Interesting too, how Trask's story is told in 3rd person, while the other three are 1st person accounts. A perfect addition to the range, hitting all the right notes! I've updated my chronology and cast listing for all the recent stuff and will post the updated version in the appropriate thread. Nice work, all--and four lovely postscripts after the full-cast perfection of Blood & Fire! Happy 50th, DS!! Happy 10th, DS on BF!! I think that it's actually very clever that Trask's story is the only one not in first person. Out of these four characters Trask is the least introspective. He gets shown his character flaws but is unable to acknowledge them and learns no lesson, believing he can outsmart the entity he was powerless to deal with. Quentin, Maggie and Angelique have been shown to be capable of reflection, regret and redemption, even if it isn't always clear or is unlikely to stick. You could say that Quentin is defined by his regrets and how he deals with them.

Words to guarantee happiness, from Jo Lidster, regarding future 'Echoes of the Past'-type collection: 'I am currently working with a number of writers - some returning favourites and some new - on four new collections which will be released throughout the year.'
WONDERFUL!

Only listened to the Trask story so far and loved it. I very much missed him - and Jerry Lacy in general - when he finished his second stint so hearing more of the Rev's story was great. I didn't realise it was going to be a third-person narrative at all but it worked. Who would want to be in his head anyway? I must admit I was looking forward to hearing Jerry do that voice for 40 minutes I'm going to probably listen to one a week in my ongoing attempts to spread BF across the year and not just marathon everything on release. The high water mark for me and the Rev will always be Trask and Angelique on the Devil's battlefield in The Carrion Queen, which may be one of the most underrated BF plays in general, not just Dark Shadows wise.

Also I love those covers Pup. Such a simple but effective and striking look. I adore that pic of Jerry Lacy. If you only saw that pic, you might think Trask was a kindly old man

I still haven't managed to get hold of this yet (finances being a bit tight at the moment, my DS allocation for the time being obviously went on 'Blood & Fire' when i realised i was going to have to prioritise) but i'm looking forward to it immensely.
One thing, though - and it's probably just me... Does it not make anyone else's fannish OCD twitch that it's the wrong Reverend Trask on the cover? I know it's a minor thing but... Gah.

Look at it this way...the other three stories are first person accounts, from Quentin, Maggie and Angelique. The Trask story is told in the third person, so perhaps it's Gregory Trask that's telling us the story of his ancestor.

Listened to Trask the Exorcist as the first installment of one story a month from this collection. Absolutely wonderful story by Jerry Lacy and a great reading by him as well! Got to hear the first few seconds of the Quentin story as an accidental trailer but managed just enough self control to save it for later. I think it will be very good if I can only manage to keep to this schedule because it was so nice to have a Dark Shadows story to listen to this month that I haven't heard before. I'm already missing the monthly releases terribly.

Fantastic release of short stories - I hope we'll see more of these releases as time goes on.
What role will Angelique play in Bloodline, one wonders....?

Rationed out The Missing Reel to myself for this month's listen to a story from Echoes of the Past. Always a joy to hear David Selby, but it was a good story also - very interesting the way it was told, and certainly full of surprises!

Since Haunted Memories is due out this month, I went ahead and listened to the third story from Echoes of the Past, Lunar Tides. Wonderful story and as always a magnificent reading by Kathryn Leigh Scott.
Maybe I should listen to these story sets all at once though - it's just now starting to dawn on me what an excellent collection of stories this is as a whole for rationing them out to myself like this. Might also help keep the individual stories from seeming too short - not that they are but they do tend to seem like it just because I could listen to any of the actors all day (and often have). :-)

So, judging by the picture, and rampantly speculating, when do you think the Liz story takes place? Where's the picture from? Can we take a guess as to how old she is there?

Picture? Those are the readers, not the characters. That's Marie Wallace.

Finally got around to listening to the last story in this collection - Angelique. I fell asleep listening to it yesterday afternoon but am so glad I relistened to it today. What a difference a day can make. It was not a dull little story by any means. Where her beautiful voice lulled me into hypnotic trance yesterday, today I was able to fully appreciate the tale and was completely mesmerized today. Thought provoking. One of the wonderful things about virtually every Dark Shadows release is that I find they always reward repeated listenings. And the great thing about these bite-sized story collections is that each author has a different 'voice', a different way of telling a story. This sense of variety is one of the many reasons I find these audios so enjoyable.
