So, in recent months i've had to take stock of everything and downsize. More and more I've been looking at my Doctor Who DVDs and wondering of I should just go digital. While I love having the physicals, I just don't watch them enough to justify two plus shelves to the DVDs. Combine that with a woefully incomplete collection, that isn't looking to be completed in the future thanks to DVDS going out of print.
The downside really is losing all the commentaries and special features. My question, I'd anyone can help me, are any of the commentaries or featurettes available online, digital?

There are actually some commentaries or featurettes if you buy a whole season of Doctor Who from the new Who series - at least for the seasons of new Who that I've either looked at buying or actually bought via iTunes or Amazon streaming. They are not the same as the ones on the DVDs, though, as far as I can tell, and not all seasons include extras.
I haven't seen any extras/features available digitally for classic Who, but I haven't looked extensively.

Sadly not. Believe me, I've looked. If you're looking for a specific doco you might be able to find it, but no chance with the commentaries, and certainly not through official means. My 2 cents on the matter are these; DW is the only DVD collection I collect, simply on the strength of the special features. Nothing else is on the incredible level of these DVDs. So it comes down to this; are you like me, who after watching a story will rewatch it with commentary, watch the documentaries, read the reviews and any DWM articles you can find, sometimes even reading/listening to sequels or prequels? Or are you just focussed on the story itself, as opposed to the full experience? Or are you like most people in between? Because really, that's what it comes down to; what is it worth to you?I've loved the commentaries. I always love listening to them. The problem is, my money is tight right now, so I can't just buy up what's left before BBC cuts off all of the region 1 dvds. They already cost too much as it is, 20, 30 dollars. And with going out of print, I can't afford 150 to 200 dollars for a single DW release.
The downside is I'm too picky about not having a complete collection on the shelf.
There is no good answer, is there...
