I've always been a medium poster, not hitting the high posts of the likes of Timelord007 or some others but also not a shy lurker, so I'm going to assume most here have seen at least a few posts from me on the old site. So you know I've always tried to be calm and reasonable and see points of view. However, I'm just going to put my foot down here, and this isn't a threat just a statement, if any of you on here actively oppose or canvass against the Big Finish staff or writers joining in a private capacity, for whatever reason, then I'm off somewhere nicer. For whatever reason the old forum was shut we still had a pretty decent and open, fairminded group I thought. Let's keep that feel if we can.

I don't see why any of us would not want to see the BF people to post here! I know I certainly want them to, if they are so inclined!

I would love to have some of the BF folks here. Burning those bridges would be foolish, and I really did love the point of view of the writers like Dorney, Joe Lidster, etc where always interesting and a bonus for us fans.

I think, once we settle a name and some artwork, we should do a one-time reach out to some of those you mention

Glad we seem to be agreed on that. CharlesUrdhein, that's a fair position. At the same time, remember that even on the old forum, there was a fair amount of grumbling when BF, for example, crashed their server when Light at the End came out (after promising they wouldn't), or changed their subscription plan so that it included no subscription bonus (and did so in an awkwardly-announced way), or started removing artwork from its boxed sets. I wouldn't expect that kind of grumbling to lessen over here. Personally, I love Big Finish to the degree that I throw lots of money their way, and I'm annoyed when they make a mistake, not just because of how it affects me personally, but because of how it reflects on them and on their work. Their mistakes irritate me *because* I care about them. 'Course, that's just me.

Their mistakes irritate me *because* I care about them. 'Course, that's just me. The reason you care is because THEY care. And we know they do. It's hard to balance your professionalism as a company, with all the stumbles that happen aong the way (God help BF if THEY had released Arkham Knight on PC!) with actually having a regard for your customers and fans beyond the money gouging that exists in many other places. Yeah, they promised they wouldn't crash the server for TLATE, and they did because even then they underestimated the sales etc and so on. Grumbling is fine, but it needs to be placed in context and not have people actually vilified for doing their job. Take Ian. Ian's job is not forum cop, it's a tiny part of the rest of what he does (go look it up if anyone wants to) and saying things like it wouldn't have happened under Paul Spragg is disingenuous, even if unintentionally so, because much as it might have pained him or taken a bit longer (who knows?) Paul Spragg would have made the same call because he would have had to. Having been in the positions of customer, employee and manager (before getting out and going solo, and I'm surely not the only one here to do that) there are so many times where I've experienced hostility just for doing my job, even when it is done with as much grace as you can muster in the face of understandable disappointment. But understandable disappointment does not engender a right in any way. As for managing a forum over a weekend, I had enough trouble as a manager back in the day when the police called about a tripped alarm at 3 am on a Sunday morning. Did I get paid more for that? Nope. Anyway, aside from all that I'd like some of the gang on here so that we could sometimes get the odd reply or answer beyond us all emailing the Vortex letters page!

I think healthy criticism is fine but no bashing.
Personally I hope some of the writers join here like John Dorney who was a frequent poster on the old forums.
As for old members has anyone heard from Whovian? I miss him. Unless he joined under a different name?

It is a shame, but they shot themselves in the foot, before they could control rumours, put right wrongs and much more, now they don't have a chance. Personally I would welcome writers etc but BF customer service and marketing people are not going to be welcome by me (speaking personally, as admin I would go with consensus). Very much agree with this. I cannot put my finger on why, but it wouldn't sit well with me personally.

Seems like we're still missing a number of people who regularly posted at the old forum. Not sure how to contact them, though.
