Do we know if there’s a volume two of The Tenth Doctor Chronicles coming? There’s an article covering volume two of The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles in the latest Vortex with an interesting comment from Doris V Sutherland, who was given the choice of writing for Ten or Eleven. Presumably Big Finish wanted Doris for a specific range, i.e. Chronicles, rather than giving her carte blanche. Presumably something to sit on whilst the influx of David Tennant material quietens down. Yes, there is one coming at some point. Part of it was recorded in lockdown, and behind-the-scenes recording features in this video.

Thats a really good point i guess it depends how much else David Tennant has recorded for Big Finish we do have the confirmation of Wink and Classic Companions coming out in 2022 So perhaps The Tenth Doctor Chronicles will be released either sandwiched between the two or afterwards.
Also brings up a good question of When we will be getting The Ninth and Twelfth Doctor Chronicles (if they are full cast or not)

I am pretty certain that we've had everything we're getting from Tennant in lockdown -- note that everything he did was recorded during the first lockdown, not the second or third ones where TV and film production were allowed to continue, and the Classic Companions set was announced eight months ago. My guess is the Chronicles set will be dropped in the next time there's a lean period for BF working with Tennant -- it'd be odd to have it in such close proximity to the huge amount of stories we're currently getting with him.

Not sure if this is really the right thread, as I'm not sure if there is any BF news on here, but here's the link to the Sunday with Steven Rainey: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000yd5vDoctor Who talk (including an interview with Peter Capaldi) starts at 1:12:25. Currently listening.

I think he’s bluffing I dont see why he would be bluffing he sounded tired when discussing Doctor Who and lets face it maybe he needs time and distance away from the role he might come back like Eccleston after a decade or so who knows at this point. i mean he seemed happy with what stories he did and maybe he thinks that sometimes less is more who knows

Even though he’s my favorite actor and Doctor I think I need to stop reading/watching/listening to his new interviews right now because every time he says something indicating he won’t be back to DW it really really upsets me for a long time. I think I should just wait and be surprised if he changes his mind.

Yes, most actors would want to move forward not backwards. If he does ever return it may be similar to Eccleston, after many years. I think there's an expectation from fandom that if an actor has played Who they want to do it forever/reprise the role. It seems to be something unique to fandom of things like Doctor Who. By its nature the show is a saga with many people playing the role & each actor's time is temporary which in a way can make it more precious & important that it doesn't last forever. Best to think of it as a bonus if one's favorite doctor does turn up in the show again either on tv or audio. I also think Capaldi is right when he talks about how the effectiveness of multi-doctor stories lessens when it keeps happening.

We have a long running audio drama series here in Germany (has been going for more than 40 years) and the people connected to it keep coming back to it. They might disappear for years/ decades, but in the end, they will always find their way back.
I still won't rule out Capaldi. Maybe he is tired, but maybe it is indeed misdirection (he IS an actor, remember that!).
And we all know how much Moffat and to a lesser extend I include Capaldi liked to play pranks and misdirections on the fans in the past.

True, I think more for a lot of niche genre tv & audio people want actors to keep coming back to their signature role in the genre when they have quite understandably moved on, actors leave a role/show for a reason! I have to be honest, claiming it's misdirection sounds like wishful thinking especially when this interview is about The Suicide Squad (he like any actor would probably get bored answering questions about something he has already finished doing especially when promoting a new role/project). But fans have plenty of 12th doctor media to enjoy, the show, comics, books etc. That's the joy of Dr Who there are many other ways to enjoy your favourite doctor when they have left the show.

I think if you try to convince yourself Capaldi was just bluffing or misdirecting you'll end up disappointed. He only left the role three and a half years ago, he's got a part in a big comic book adaptation movie and other projects (some of which have been in limbo for some time because of the pandemic). I don't see him doing BF for at least a few years.

I remain optimistic that Capaldi will record some day, but even if he doesn't, he really gave us a great Doctor and I could understand if he's satisfied with that.

But as I said, I have seen it before.
