AUGUST VORTEX LETTER PAGE - More Classic Doctors, New Monsters on the way in some shape or form - Nick makes positive noises on the possibility of the War Master encountering the War Doctor - They are "making some plans" for River to meet One, Two, Three and Ten - Next Holmes series into production later this year (did we already know that?) Hmm, I'm ambivalent about CDNM, and really think that they need to do something new with River. I'm not sure about war master meeting war doctor especially if it involved a recast as I think it may be a wee bit too soon. Also this whole crossover thing I'd getting a bit tedious, it's not obligatory that everyone has to meet each other. Personally I don't think it will be long that a dead horse will be flogged in regards to the time war.

I like a crossover as much as the next fan, but if they happen too often they cease to be "something special". A bit like chocolate cake is a nice treat, but you'd soon get sick of it eating it every day.

More CD, NM could be good. As for River meeting every single Doctor, I was kinda hoping Big Finish could move River on from her meeting every Doctor under the sun, there must be more to do with the character.

I like the character of River, but I'm not THAT big a fan, so I'd prefer her meeting Drs. Or, at the very least, to complete the full set before moving on to her own adventures. Having said that, I'd still buy it with no Drs or some Dr Who link, but maybe BF fear some customers wouldn't

mark687 I'm guessing recasts is going to be the way they go with Space 1999. rather than an all new version. And considering they've worked with Martin Landau and Barbara Bain's daughter before, I know who would be top of my list for fantasy casting for Dr. Helena Russell..

How can you bring back Space-1999 in the year 2019?

I'm thinking it features Six, Peri, Iris, and hopefully Panda. Am I reading too much into things? God, I want that so much. Plus it would make a great deal of sense if it was. Iris appeared in last years December release ‘Muse of Fire’ and I’m pretty sure Santa Claus has appeared in an adventure in Iris Wildthymes range before.

In Iris Wildthyme and the Claws of Santa, no less.

If this isn't the story of the children of a 17th century village being converted into a cult of Santa worshippers after the discovery of the remains of one Kris Kringle's little helpers in a farmer's field..if Peri doesn't succumb to the infection and start sprouting pointy ears, a penchant for wearing a pointy hat with a bell on the end and unfortunate candy cane habit..if Big Finish don't find a way to shoe horn Wendy Padbury and Simon Williams in to the plot and beg Derek Jacobi to take on the role of an elderly Rev.Fallowfield.....I'm gonna be soooooooooo disappointed*. 😋😋
*Hmmm..and if it isn't I've just had an inkling of an idea for next year's Short Trips opportunity...🤔

Whether it's 'The Wormery' and 'Muse of Fire' with their rewarding plots and character crossovers, the excellent Who spoofs of 'Iris Vol 2' or the simply nuts 'Claws of Santa'; goofy, serious or spoof, with or without the Doctor, I love Iris! (And not only because Katy Manning is brilliant, but that too!)
As others have said, Iris stories may be a riot but they often contain hidden depths. Sometimes they're hidden more deeply than usual, that's all... IMHO, sometimes goofy is just the ticket. Stories about genocide on a global or cosmic scale (or even death and bloodsucking for that matter) aren't always the best thing to cheer a person up. Often enough I just have to ignore the subject material and bask in the great performances by familiar and beloved performers. Especially lately I really appreciate the power of Iris stories to lift my spirits, and even if I didn't happen to like Iris it would still be worth the price of admission just for Panda. That said, I thought Muse of Fire made for excellent holiday cheer last year even if a bit less goofy than the average Iris story and if I though another were on the way I would indeed be greatly looking forward to it.

Iris starring in her own series and Iris as a supporting character in a Doctor Who story means that structurally the same character is pitched in two different ways. I am one who prefers Iris in a supporting role to Iris Unbound on her own and as such Muse of Fire was one of my favorite stories from last year.

Very interesting! I wonder if those two Dracula titles are continuations of the Big Finish adaptation. I'm hoping so as I really love that release. Or could it be a 5th Doctor release for the next year’s trilogy?

Or could it be a 5th Doctor release for the next year’s trilogy? Why specifically Five? The Scott Handcock connection. Handcock produces the 5th Doctor's monthly adventures. Personally I think this is something other than Who but that connection is there.

According to a user at Gallifrey Base, Ian McNiece mentioned at Vworpcon that he was going to record with Sylvester McCoy this week, and apparently was going to maybe work with Tim Treloar sometime in the future (and met him for the first time that day). (McNiece wasn't 100% certain on Treloar, but he seemed to think so). Maybe we can look forward to some Classic Doctors in a new Churchill Years set?

Ah, this must be what BF mean by a new CDNM set: Churchill's Doctors, New Mayhems!
