I think the Hex Arc is, overall, a bit overhyped... but I will say that *The Harvest is a fantastic story, a brilliant introduction for a great companion, and right up there with *Angel of Scutari* as one of the best Hex stories.

Ended up only getting Part 1 in before Dalek Universe 3, but I'll return to finish it off later. It really is a great opener - Hex is a very clear character right away, the villains are interesting and the Doctor is skulking around muttering to himself. What struck me is how much Ace feels like a Doctor here. Specifically, she seems like the RTD Doctors in the openers of Series 1, 3 & 4 - here to solve a problem, not looking for a companion - but if you insist on helping, she'll take it! Hex doesn't even notice the actual Doctor - instead he's intrigued by Ace and follows her to the TARDIS. (It's been said before that Hex is Ace's companion more than he's the Doctor's - and yeah. Absolutely. From the very start.) And of course, we end part 1 on an absolutely iconic exchange: "Oh my God!" "No. I'm the Doctor. But hello just the same." (THEME TUNE CRASHES IN)
