Yes, the EPG confirms that a Big Finish "Doctor Who" story starts on Radio 4 Extra next Saturday, starring everybody's favourite companion - Thomas Brewster!
Much as they introduced Klein to radio audiences without broadcasting her original story, Radio 4 Extra will be playing "The Crimes of Thomas Brewster" next Saturday evening.
They are also broadcastning a three-hour collection of DW-related programmes "Who Made Who", which I'm pretty sure is a repeat.

While his introductory trilogy would have been better, this trilogy is more conventional in it's story telling. The Haunting of Thomas Brewster can get complicated at times in a timey wimey sort of way, The Boy That Time Forget is at best a marmite story plus there's the baggage that comes with a specific character and Time Reef was one of the experimental 3 part/1 part releases (did they include Klein's Story when they aired her first trilogy?). Plus, this gives people a chance to encounter Menzies (Crimes of Thomas Brewster) and Axos (Feast of Axos) as well as the delightful yet sadly late Maggie Stables, not to mention Flip appearing in Crimes, so there's more for people to discover.

Thats true, i didnt think of it like that. It allows them to introduce a wider variety of BF, without it getting bogged down

This may be the first 6th Doctor story they have broadcast. I know they didn't use him when they did all those stories for the 50th.

It allows them to introduce a wider variety of BF, without it getting bogged down Odds are the listeners on Radio 4 Extra aren't the kinds of people who'll be processing complex plots or aware of history from the classic series beyond who some of the Doctors are played by and the fact one of them handed out Jelly Babies. This trilogy is far more marketable to this kind of listener, which should mean a few more people getting into Big Finish. It'd be an ideal platform to get another plug for the new Tenth Doctor stories.

Given BF's huge Who catalogue, why would you choose Thomas Brewster as the central character to one of the few you broadcast?

I really enjoyed this story- was a good, fun and really well put together release (the music especially was fantastic) so I can see why it was picked to be broadcast- plus means non BF purchasers can hear a bit of the great work that they have done with the Sixth Doctor.

I actually really like this story. It's a fun way to reintroduce Brewster and, while I like The Condemned more as a story, Crimes uses Menzies the best IMO.

I thought it was OK, but a bit awkward that the continuity announcer (one N. Briggs, esq.) had to explain who some of the characters were before it began. One wonders how they choose these stories to broadcast, and whether he was in on the decision.
I'd also not realised it was Flip's introduction... I wonder whether, rather than getting the Axos story in a couple of weeks' time, we might be hearing "The Cruise of Davros" instead?!

It's possible Nick was asked for a set of Sixth Doctor stories that weren't heavy on continuity, of which the 2011 trilogy would be the few that would count. As already mentioned it introduces new listeners to a good variety of characters and monsters. Now I'm picturing the creator of the Daleks in the Caribbean wearing a floral shirt.

Did they keep the cliffhanger at the end of Crimes of Thomas Brewster intact? If they didn't that'll leave some scratching their heads wondering what's happened.

Bit daft skipping it if it is there Even if there is an alternate cut that takes out the cliffhanger it'll still be very awkward to end the story in a way to encourage people to listen to Industrial Evolution, as well as transitioning to it. There's significant character development in The Feast of Axos and I'm surprised Radio 4 Extra are choosing to skip it.
