On the latest podcast it was revealed that there will be 'something' staring Jackie Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness.
There's a clip at the end of the podcast. Sounds exciting.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes YES. Have I said 'yes' enough times yet?
Jack and Jackie in the same story = awesomeness. Do you know: I love this idea? I do. I don't even know what it'll be but I love the craziness of Jack and Jackie in the same story. They didn't get much interaction with each other in Journey's End so it should be fun to see if they get on or not. PLEASE let it be a 9th Doctor Companion Chronicle.

The best part about their interaction in Journey's End is that they don't say anything about having met before or not, so it opens up Big Finish to do whatever they want.

If anyone wants possible spoilers... {Spoiler} Based on the clip and what Barrowman said, it's a Torchwood story. Sounds like Jack wasn't as distant when checking in on Rose as he said in Utopia, because it sounds like he had an adventure with Jackie while Rose was travelling with the Doctor.

John Barrowman's post about recording with Camille Coduri used a Doctor Who hashtag, not a Torchwood one. Plus: why would you have Jackie Tyler feature in a Torchwood audio anyway? Surely if you're going to get her, it makes more sense for a 9th or 10th Doctor one?

Well, Jackie's a Doctor Who character, so it might make sense to use a Doctor Who hashtag even if she's in a Torchwood episode. I don't see how putting Jackie in Torchwood is any different from having Ace in Gallifrey.

Plus, John Barrowman referring to it as a 'one shot story' they never really did could equally mean Jack recalling to Jackie during series 2 an adventure he had with the 9th Doctor and Rose - there weren't any Doctor and companion-lite episodes during series 1 and certainly not any episodes featuring an adventure recalled by one of the characters to another character - as it could a Torchwood release with Jack meeting a recurring character from Doctor Who in Jackie.

Oh I do hope it's a Series 1 story. I'd absolutely love some Ninth Doctor CCs / "The Ninth Doctor Years" style set of releases.

Whatever this winds up being, I am there. Jackie is so funny to me and her and Jack together sound like comedy gold.

According to a response to a visitor post on Facebook, this release will "hopefully" be announced in June.

My thoughts on the placement of this audio (based both on Barrowman's words and on the clip at the end of the podcast) is that it's during Series 1 and it's essentially a Doctor-lite Rose-lite story. Jackie's words sound like they're in the present tense, like Rose and Jack are still travelling together. But it could be just set during DW Series 2 / Torchwood pre-pilot, I guess.

It could be {Spoiler} one half of Gareth Robert's 'Only Human', where a neanderthal ends up in modern-day London and can't be returned to his own time. The (9th) Doctor and Rose go to find out why and resolve it, while Jack stays with the neanderthal. There is an encounter with Jackie on the prowl in a bar, where she takes quite a shine to the neanderthal... The Doctor and Rose parts could be reduced to narrated abbreviations, and Gareth has shown a willingness to adapt his ideas to a newer form and appears to have a decent relationship with Big Finish...

PLEASE let it be a 9th Doctor Companion Chronicle. I think I'd like a New Series Companion Chronicles best also - presumably it would mean we'd be hearing from more stars from the TV show, but I get the impression that this might not be the most likely time for BF to start another new range if they're thinking about paring back the Novel Adaptations. I'm thinking the Jack and Jackie story probably fits somewhere into a range that already exists.

I don't think Only Human would work as an audio adaptation without Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper personally. I don't think any Doctor Who book adapted into audio would work without its Doctor. It would be weird.

If Matt Smith for instance agreed to do 11th Doctor audios, they wouldn't just go 'Oh, stuff it. We have too many ranges as it is at the moment'. They'd do 11DAs. And if the only Doctor they can't realistically get is Christopher Eccleston, then why not do companion chronicles?

I don't think any Doctor Who book adapted into audio would work without its Doctor. It would be weird. I dunno, Just War turned out okay when Big Finish adapted that, and I didn't think that was weird. The strength of the original story carried it through despite The Doctor being removed for the audio adaptation. It's not something that Big Finish would do these days though.

If they were to try it again, it would make sense to test the waters with a new series release. Any new series release is guaranteed money for them.

I'm a little skeptical, sadly (shut up, Michael. Has the magic really faded for you already?). I think you really need Rose there to expand upon Rose drifting away from the Powell Estate and Jackie dealing with her life post-Rose.
