Such an offbeat film for Amicus to make along with The Birthday Party and A Touch Of Love. I wonder how directly it's failure at the box office led Milton and Max to abandon everything and go back to the portmanteau hit factory with The House That Dripped Blood.

What Did Jack Do? David Lynch's new short film that dropped on Netflix today without any pre-announcement or build at all. What a treat, 20 mins of new Lynch! Oh holy crap! That's definitely on the to-do list. ------------------------------------- Sympathy for Mr Vengeance - A kidnapping perpetrated for the noblest of reasons (sort-of) goes wrong in every conceivable way and winds up as a bloody mess for everyone involved. Often overshadowed by its successor Oldboy, this is nonetheless a gripping film, albeit a languid and somewhat dreamlike one.

Both Milton and Max regarded A Touch of Love as their best film and it is very good. I think the turning point for Amicus was Scream And Scream Again which was a huge success, and they followed the money.

Can you ever Forgive Me
(Ture life Comedy Drama based on the life of Lee Israel a writer who successfully forged and sold letters from more famous writers. It stars Melissa McCartney [best performance from her I've seem] and Richard E Grant, they both earned deserved multiple Award Nominations last year)

Rocketman - Admittedly I'm not a massive Elton John fan (don't hate him, just not super into him), but I found this movie a bit self-indulgent.

'Jojo Rabbit' and 'Little Women'. You know, there are worse ways to spend an afternoon off from work... I wasn't expecting to enjoy 'Jojo', I really wasn't... "No one even cares to hear my stories anyway..." I know that feel Jo, I know that feel... I haven't read 'Little Women' (not yet, anyway), I didn't see the trailer(s), absolutely loved it. ('Spinster writer relative with LGBT vibes'... Yup, Jo is definetly me!)

Love Actually
I don't know about anyone else, but this is easily among my all-time favourite movies. It's heartwarming and heartbreaking in just the right measures, has an all star cast that effortlessly delivers, and a score to match. The disconnected nature of the narrative never feels confusing, nor do the huge number of characters feel cluttered or irrelevant. Everyone and everything has its place and it all culminates in a simple yet (mostly) joyous final sequence.
For anyone who hasn't seen it it is highly recommended. It might be a good idea to have a tissue or two to hand though, 'cause there's going to be at least one emotional moment in their for everybody (for me it's the running through the airport sequence; don't know why but it gets me every time!).

Hello everyone! I've watched the movie 'Hook' again with Robin Williams as Peter Pan. It features...'Star Wars' creator George Lucas and Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher...kissing each other (?!) Check out my review for the movie - bradleybasement.wordpress.com/peter-pan/hook-film/Tim.

Amicus anthology horror with The House That Dripped Blood and a movie that I love more and more every time I watch it, Big Trouble in Little China.

I feel like the best of the trilogy is the final film, Sympathy For Lady Vengeance , especially in the directors preferred version where the film shifts to black & white.

I've never seen Lady Vengeance, but since I've got the box set (which does have the Fade version), I'll definitely check it out in the near future.

Napoleon Dynamite - First time I'd ever seen it. And...I don't understand the hype? I chuckled once or twice, but why on Earth did this movie get so much attention?
X-Men: Dark Phoenix - I went into this with low expectations due to all I've heard...and was still disappointed.
And Now for Something Completely Different - Been ages since I'd last watched it, so strange to see everyone so young.
