More of a short than a movie, but we watched Mickey's Prince and the Pauper for the Disney marathon last night.

Went to see Monkey Man last night before it was completely out of theaters. It was great. The storytelling was a little sloppy at the beginning, but it comes together wonderfully. Kudos to Dev Patel.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immaculate_(2024_film)Just watched this - this stars that American actress Sydney Sweeney, who was tarnished by that older Hollywood female producer with the "She is not attractive and she can't act" slander. Well she is fine in this , she isn't Gary Oldman level but its definitely solid.. And she is labelled as a "Producer" as well..

She's extremely popular along with the likes of Anya Taylor Joy and Ana De Arnas as that new gen of major actress. Proved she could act terrifically on Euphoria and White Lotus. She'll be fine.

Her "response" about 1 week later was pure fire. she chekt n rekt her LOLZ.
Fancy saying what she said.
Big Arnie S can't act- yet his movies consistently made hundreds of millions over the decades. He has on screen charisma.
I have only ever seen her in that Spider Woman movie (shocking script- you are only as good as the script allows you to be).

As of Friday I have now seen one hundred films on the big-screen this year... Christ alive. Tarot - Not (quite) as dumb as I was expecting, but certainly not something I'd ever feel the 'need' to watch again. The Fall Guy - A perfect 'dumb fun' film for a wet & windy Bank Holiday Monday... {Spoiler} Not to nitpick or anything Universal, but the whole point of doing a "surprise cameo" credit-scene is kinda rendered pointless if, you know, YOU NAME THEM IN THE CREDITS BEFORE WE GET THERE -!
Again, not to nitpick or anything, I'm sure you know what you're doing...

"Carry on Sergeant" (with William Hartnell) and "Carry on Nurse".
Very interesting - much more in the gentle Ealing comedy line, than the farces of later years. Particularly noteworthy is Kenneth Williams in his pre-funny voice career, playing in both films the supercililous young so-and-so with a heart of gold.

The last Unicorn. I got the DVD because this is a movie that always makes me cry. Crying is very cathartic. It lets me shed lots of stress hormones and makes me feel better. The movie did not disappoint. 5 out of 5 tears.

Butter
(Early 90s drama short that was the Writing/Directing debut of Alan Cumming. A workaholic anorexic [Hilary Lyon] tries to prevent a binge by offering the contents of her fridge to friends [Richard E Grant and Helen Bolem Carter] but of course they insist on holding a Supper Party with it.)

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Looks nice but a very run of the mill movie with a crap ending.

"Carry on Sergeant" (with William Hartnell) and "Carry on Nurse". Very interesting - much more in the gentle Ealing comedy line, than the farces of later years.
"Carry on Teacher" and "Carry on Constable" more in the same vein, although in the latter it's very slightly hinting at the saucy farce of the future. Interestingly, Kenneth Connor has reverted to his 'Sergeant' personality where he plays the nervous case who wins the girl against the odds, while Kenneth Williams is still supercilious but isn't quite so likeable.

Sleeping Dogs A weird movie starring Russell Crowe, with a bit of a 'made for TV' vibe. The acting was pretty good, but you can see the ending coming from so far away, you actually start to second guess yourself by the end.
Karen Gillan is doing a bit of a weird accent in the film. I think purposfully, since there's a theme of perspective. There's an impressively authentic section protraying the perspective of a male novelist. Tough to get through but so on-point.
