Yup! The Russo brothers, directing Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame, seem to have been specifically tasked with blowing up the status quo every time Civil War really is the setup point for where most of the subsequent movies launch. Civil War is in the spring, Black Panther is set a week after CW, Spider-Man Homecoming is set over the summer and early fall, Doctor Strange (seems) to start near the end of Civil War and span the next year. And then Thor Ragnarok, which stands alone from the Earth-based stuff, leads directly into Infinity War. (The upcoming Black Widow movie is supposed to be set in the aftermath of Civil War too) A lot of people look at Civil War as a kind of Avengers 2.5, to make up for the disappointment that was Age of Ultron. (And I am 110% Team Tony!) 110% Team Tony, huh? I dunno, I thought Captain America had some good reasons for his actions. And you have to admit, Tony is full of himself. Tony is right that they were causing countless deaths and incalculable property destruction, oversight was necessary And Steve, betraying his duties and his oath, to go give aid and comfort to a mass murderer and international terrorist? No sympathy, Steve belongs in jail

But Steve was in full possession of his faculties, and chose to aid and abet someone wanted internationally for terrorism and murder. I can have some sympathy for Bucky, but Steve? Nahhhh he made his bed

For those that have read the Civil War comics- the intro/catalyst is much different to the movie.. It was a school/(or a school bus) full of children? Maybe the whole "be accountable for your destruction" was a slight dig at DC/Warner for the Superman movie where they demolished all of Metropolis LOLZ.

Played that game on PS2 & absolutely loved it. I think it's one of those movies where each viewer has a different theory on the ending, not happy Blumhouse remaking it as you don't remake perfection. I agree, but I also think that if (when) the remake sucks, it will be quickly forgotten along with such dreck as the Tom Cruise Mummy. So I'm at peace with it simply because it will never have the shelf life that Carpenter's version will. Did you see the 2011 prequel? I have heard mixed things. I have seen it & to be honest i enjoyed it, while not a patch on Carpenters film it at least tries to tie events to the sequel & as a companion piece it works seamlessly. Definitely worth watching.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture yesterday afternoon. And got a bit of an early start on Halloween stuff by watching House of 1000 Corpses last night.

I watched Doctor Strange last night. Interesting story. Beautiful visual effects, especially the kaleidoscoping floors and buildings. Benedict Cumberbatch was fantastic in it (but I always enjoy his acting). And the two little codas embedded in the credits were tantalizing.
I was also interested to see a warning about driving distracted in very small print at the end of the credits. Wondering how many actually saw that.

He's seen what happens when you give total control to one group. Tony was just acting out of shame, not out of the best interests of everyone. I guess they could have negotiated better terms, but then there would have been less punching.

Feel like if the Hulk had actually still be on Earth though things would have been a lot different. The man is a walking natural disaster after all and would have no doubt convinced most government bodies that super powered beings need regulating.

I was 'given' today off from work, so went to one of the cinemas local to me for a triple-bill:
The Broken Hearts Gallery - Better than I thought, better than I thought...
Jurassic Park - Like 'Flash Gordon' last month, not a film I thought I'd see on the big screen. My mother took one of my cousins to see it when it first came out (when I was a couple of months old) and apparently screamed loudly during the kitchen scene.
The New Mutants - Well, this is finally out! Strictly not the best film that I've ever seen, but not as bad as I thought it could have been... Alright, I thought it was alright. Squeeing over a f--king glove-puppet, and I wonder why I'm single... (Not that I'd know what to do with a partner if I ever found one, of course)

Tonight was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I still think Guardians of the Galaxy is kind of silly.
Baby Groot was cute.
I am Groot.

The Robot vs The Aztec Mummy (MST3K) - Cinema Spooktacular Round 3. With that title, I thought, how can I resist? Well, it's a disappointing lie. The robot only shows up with 15 minutes to go and his duel with the mummy is...not good. Mr Polly fell asleep. Not even Joel and the Bots could save this one.

Dad’s Army (2016)
This film really didn’t need to exist but for what’s it worth the cast is great and I’ll watch anything with Bill Nighy in.
It’s a fine enough adaptation/continuation for what is a classic television series.
