I do also think it'll be interesting to see how Chibnail handles the much more global quality of New Who, both in its audience as well as in its scope. Will he do more America stories, or be much more explorational with other nations? That reminds me: anybody heard anything new about Chibnail's material yet?

I'd like the meta-crisis Doctor to return, which would later become The Valeyard.

I don't like that idea at all.

Just want to add that there's a whole lot of fan fic out there that turns the meta-crisis Doctor into a nasty abusive dude. And I hope the actual series never goes there.
No.
Just no.

Just a horrible idea from pretty much any angle. Plus Tennant kind of did a spin on this with his role in Jessica Jones. He was great and I don't ever need to see him do it again.

To be fair, a chap with a name like Killgrave was always going to be of dubious character at best. He reminds me a little of Pusher from The X-Files. Actually, in a bit of irony, his character is almost exactly how I've wanted to see the Master for ages in NuWho, but we've never really made that leap. Charles Dance, Peter Capaldi and some of that ol' fashioned Delgado hypnotism.

I just thought using that posh RP, basically what he sounds like as the Doctor, made Killgrave a much creepier character. And yes, I don't think any TV version of The Master, save very early Delgado & Missy, goes to the places I think the character could go. On audio, that is a different matter.

They could always recast the character! And now you are just trolling. Although if they recast with a female version of The Doctor, hmmmmmm.

Yeah, I can definitely see it. There's that Romantic bluster you'd come to expect from the Tenth Doctor buried underneath all that psychosis, a little bit like how he might have turned out had he never met Ian and Barbara. Dangerously amoral and deeply confused about human feeling. On television, I think the mistake that they've made is that the Master's life nowadays revolves a little too much around the Doctor. Terror of the Autons, The Mind of Evil, The Claws of Axos, Colony in Space, a lot of these early stories have the Master's plans intersect rather than revolve around his counterpart on Earth, so we get this greater sense of movement to the character. His life does not end when his interactions with the Doctor end, he's always flitting away somewhere to participate in some dirty scheme elsewhere. Writers call it "leaky box" thinking, where a single throwaway line or scene has the implication of other unseen stories elsewhere.

Some wouldn't be happy with Tennant, so they'd have to recast. Hes eventually going to become Michael Jayston, so he'd be recast in the future, anyway.

And the 10th Doctor, or his alternate version, will never be recast in our lifetime.
