To someone who has read this book.... My understanding is that the book is all tied up in this concept of Gallifreyan looms and whether or not Patience is the doctors wife. Those things aren't part of my personal cannon (nor is lungbarrow) and I am wondering if they will cut it and if they even can without damaging the story. Thoughts?

So in relation to the other Virgin novels with Chris and Roz, where would this story fall?

So in relation to the other Virgin novels with Chris and Roz, where would this story fall? It takes place between #53 Return of the Living Dad and #54 The Death of Art.

The original novel allowed a lot of interpretation for Ye Olde Marce Platte Gallifrey by having it as an indeterminate dream sequence which you could interpret however you wanted. Knowing Big Finish that'll be kept just as oblique as the original, if not more so. Patience herself is theoretically from a time prior to the looms, back when Gallifreyans could still have children. As to how and why she's in Cold Fusion, well-- [THIS INFORMATION HAS BEEN REDACTED ON ORDERS OF THE SCIENTIFICA. WE APPRECIATE YOUR COMPLIANCE IN THESE MATTERS.]So in relation to the other Virgin novels with Chris and Roz, where would this story fall? It takes place between #53 Return of the Living Dad and #54 The Death of Art. Bear in mind though that this is basically a Fifth Doctor story featuring the Seventh rather than the other way around. It's best to think of it as being just after Psychodrome more than Return of the Living Dad.

I hope the scene where Nyssa meets Chris in an awkward situation finds it's way into the audio, considering there's an extra hour to it. Adric and Roz should sound great together, and please let Tegan's line about a certain TV show she's seen remain intact.

Easily. I don't think i'd read any of the NAs with Chris and Roz when i read it, and i was fine. Oh, wait - i'd read Sky Pirates! But that was all. Anyway, i'm a bit bummed out by this news, as i'd had my heart set on it being something by Christopher Bulis... Seriously, i thought it was gonna be CF and i'm ecstatic that it is. I wonder who they're going to get to play Patience...? Miranda Raison? That'd be pretty much perfect, IMO. To someone who has read this book.... I can't really recall it mentioning Looms at all, really.

Plus, it's stated in the DWM article that Christine Kavanagh is taking the role.

I'd been really hoping for a Novel Adaptation with the Fifth Doctor, but I'm sure this exceeds my hopes.

I've just realised - this'll be the first six-parter for Peter Davison. Even if you count Zagreus (his only other three hour story), it was a three parter.

Is John Dorney adapting Cold Fusion for audio, who is this John Dorney person? Is he any good at writing? Seriously if John is adapting Lance Parkins script then it's in safe hands.

Adric and Roz should sound great together, and please let Tegan's line about a certain TV show she's seen remain intact. I prefer that the subplots of Nyssa and Tegan have a complete rewrite in this adaptation, I find very sexist their participation in the novel: Nyssa being a Bond girl and Tegan wearing a tight white catsuit, even Amy Pond would feel offended for this.

Lance needs to write some more Doctor Who his Davros story was outstanding.
