I recently picked up a great set of wireless over the ear Sennheiser headphones, not that I have been unhappy with my Bose speakers, more that I find in the Summer with the air conditioner running in my apartment that it is harder to hear without really cranking the volume and risking annoyed neighbours.
I've gone back to listen to some of the releases where I've found that sections were really hard to hear at the best of times using the headphones as a test - huge difference, those sections were difficult to pick up before are much clearer using these headphones.
I'm curious to know how many use headphones rather than playing things through speakers when they are listening at home.
At work I use a lower end set of Sennheisers - they are decent, certainly better than the earbuds I use with the iPod.

If I'm listening to anything on my own I definitely prefer headphones -- it feels much more immersive, and I can pick up the directionality of the sound (like when things move from the left to right) and subtleties of all the sound effects and things spoken in the background; I like to catch all the details whenever I can. Of course if I'm listening with others, speakers are more convenient, but I prefer headphones personally.

Headphones unless the wife isn't home. I started her on BF over a year ago, but she still has plenty to get through and I wouldn't want to leak any spoilers.
I have Bose ear buds, and bose speakers on the computer, so there isn't that great of a difference in terms of quality. I like the sound from the a computer a little more if only for one reason: I play everything through iTunes, which has a handy equalizer, and I have equalizer settings for everything - to the point where I have different settings for different live performances of the same rock group. Naturally, I have two different Big Finish equalizer settings as well, and those don't export to ipods (really wish they did). I think my settings are much better than the standard "spoken word" settings that comes loaded into iTunes and on ipods.
The best overall sound, though, came from high quality over-ear headphones. But those broke a few years ago and I don't really want to spend much on another pair...

It depends on what I'm listening to and at what time. For me though LP's should always be listened to through speakers as that gives me the best sound

Speakers if I'm alone, headphones if there are others around who might be disturbed by my listening.

I assume we're talking about spoken word stuff here. For me: earbuds.

I have a long history of speakers exploding under mysterious circumstances, so headphones for me.

Headphones in general, but if I'm in the house alone I just play the audio out of my phone speaker. It can sound a bit tinny, but if I put my phone in the pocket of my jeans it develops a lovely sound.
I sometimes use wifi to play through my smart TV, but I really like to be able to keep playing as I potter about the house.
