Does anyone know exactly what The Kro'Ka looks like? Or what we can visualize him as? I mean in Caerdroia The Doctor states that he's surprised at KroKa's appearance and that he thought he'd look like a Frog but considering what he does look it's better than what he thought! So does anyone have any ideas as my imagination seems to be burnt out from all the guessing... JB

From the TARDIS.Wiki:
"The Kro'ka was a shape-shifting creature of indeterminate size. Charley referred to him as "a little blobby weasel who does the Divergence's dirty work." At one point, he had two hands, though he did not normally have any. He did not have a neck. (AUDIO: The Next Life)"
Make of that what you will!

Hmmmm! That doesn't help much. The Doctor remarks on his appearance in Caerdroia yet we don't get any type of explanation! JB

I always imagined the Kro'ka as this amorphous cloud of translucent matter that stretches out "limbs" and "faces" similar to the mimic from The Abyss or No-Face from Spirited Away.

I'm with the Doctor on this one. As they were frog-type people in my minds-eye too; frogs croak, so Kro-Ka = Croak, was my train of thought at the time.

Hmm... I suppose the image was vaguely insectoid in my mind's eye, though I'm not sure whether I got that anywhere in particular. I don't actively try to visualize what I'm hearing. As with reading, I let my mind spit out whatever it spits out.

This can be quite annoying in the audios and some books when they make absolutely no effort to identify the look of a particular alien! Is he bald, has he two eyes and is he even human? For ages now I've just been imagining the actor Stephen Perring as a giant figure watching the travellers as they move from one interphase to the other! JB

By the way does anyone know if Stephen Perring still acts and if so is he still working for Big Finish? JB

JB How a character might look, when it's left vague, has honestly never annoyed me when listening to a story or reading a book. What matters to me is the interactions the character has with others in the stories, regardless of looks. Minimal description leaves me free to use my own imagination about how the character looks.

Wrong subforum? I imagined him how Stubag drew him! I considered moving it to the Big Finish Doctor Who board when I first saw it, but decided it wasn't critical. It fits in either board, really.

I've been imagining him as a ghostlike white creature with indeterminate features as of late! JB

Unlike some, I really like the way Big Finish went to great lengths NOT to describe what the Kro'ka looked like, apart from very breif occasional comment. It was a great character, and the sound effects used indicated any number of subhuman possibilities. Stephen Perring, I thought, was excellent in the role. Strange that he played two fairly high-profile characters (Kro'ka and Sebastian Grayle in the excellent 'Seasons of Fear' story) and hasn't worked for the company since then. Same could be said for Matthew Brenher, who played many characters (including Ice Warriors, until Nick Briggs 'baggsied' them) in the early days and then seemed to disappear. Ah well, you win some, you lose some!
