Heh. I'd publish a full list of what I as showrunner consider canon and damn the begrudgers, and no, there would not be a single novel or comic, even the ones I love, on that list. I'd give homework to the Doctor/companions that would also include listening to BF productions.
I'd hire Briggsy to write a Dalek story...finally. Plus Mr Dorney, come on in!
Lisa Bowerman as Bernice Summerfield, come aboard as a televisually unseen previous companion for a two parter. The Doctor references people he travelled with lots of times, let's make it someone we actually know.
Somewhere along the way we'd return to Gallifrey and visit Maxil, because why wouldn't you?
At least once I'd have a dedicated UNIT arc, something along the lines of a procedural, just to shake things up a bit.
And less of the CGI for monsters and so on, keep it subtler. It may not be on earth but humans are still great villains. Plus they needn't be evil maniacs, present the Doctor with Ozymandias' plot from Watchmen and what does he do? Is he Owlman and Silk Spectre or is he Rorschach?
I'd have some UXB type things from the Time War, there MUST be some of those around. The Timelords were gone and it isn't like the Daleks would tidy up after themselves.
As mentioned before, a small victory in a small place can still be meaningful, less universe ending stuff, especially on Earth. That was something I liked about Smile last week.
More pondering and thoughts later.

I'll be curious if we get another internet-originated title sequence for Jodie. Already, I've seen some not half-bad ones, actually, like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmlNrd-LkPw

It's only a mad dream, but I'd love to see what howlaround jiggery-pokery they could perform with fractals nowadays, I reckon that would make an amazing introduction.

I'd be happy going more abstract, as opposed to the literalisation of time we got for Capaldi (which worked, but it'd help set 13 apart from the get go more clearly).
