I have recently re-listened to the original Worlds of Doctor Who story and once again I think that the ending is ripe for a follow-up...
***SPOILER*** the following does relate to what happened at the end of the first box set.
With the Sixth Doctor, Leela and Romana in the Tardis about to take the music box containing Rees' mind and the ancient force known as The Art to Gallifrey.
Romana said she will put the music box in a stasis field ONCE they got back to Gallifrey. Could Rees/The Art make a telepathic connection to the Tardis and influence their destination.
It could offer the opportunity for some of the newer Doctor Who spin-off ranges to feature in this second collection.
So I thought that perhaps Rees tries to go back in time with the hope of finding the original music box before it got damaged (Romana will have a fit about the consequences to the web of time).
He tries to force the Tardis to comply, but the Tardis fights back, during which the travellers are all rendered unconscious.
When they awake they find the music box gone and discover that the Tardis has made four stops in Earth's history, but the Doctor is incredulous that the materialisations all happened at the exact same time.
They don't as yet know it, but the music box containing The Art has been splintered into four parts.
Disc 1 - The Magical Arts
Leela volunteers to return to the Victorian era as she has previous knowledge for that period. The Doctor advises her not to contact Jago & Litefoot for fear of impacting their concurrent investigates into Mr Rees, so this time Leela meets Strax.
I think that Leela and Strax together would be comedy gold. Plus I am sure that the Sontaran mind would be immune to The Art.
Disc 2 - The Artist
Romana goes to the roaring 20s and encounters Captain Jack Harness from Torchwood.
In the past I have been keen on Romana meeting Casanova, but what could be better than the biggest flirt in the universe trying to thaw the Ice Maiden.
Disc 3 - Artworks
The Doctor investigates in the 1950’s and once again crosses paths with Winston Churchill.
Yet another match up that I think would be wonderful to witness
Disc 4 - The Art of War
The Doctor, Leela and Romana are reunited in the modern day for a final battle against The Art with the help of Kate Stewart and UNIT.
At the end of this story, just like in the previous box set the Doctor is in the Tardis with Leela and Romana, once again ripe for a future stories with the three of them together!!!
