Power Play is an interesting story as it tries to be The Green Death for Colin Baker's Doctor, but really doesn't have any commentary to add about the dangers of nuclear power. What's the point?

Who stories don't have to be unique and to shine a light on matters. There's no problem if they are, but it's easy to argue that many Who stories are in some way duplicates of another Who story, and many Who stories exist that don't make a comment on the human condition. It should also be noted that Power Play is "lost story" i.e. the production team at the time decided not to go ahead with it, perhaps part of the reason they didn't go ahead was because they thought it wasn't different enough from The Green Death.

You could substitute at least 200 Big Finish stories in this question (apart from the Green Death analogy). This is Doctor Who, not primary legislation. None of it is necessary.

Environmental activism doesn't seem to be a logical step for Victoria to take. She left the TARDIS because it got too dangerous.

I can't seem to remember how this story goes - I think it's one of the first Lost Stories I listened to way back there - but my inference from the label on the box is that environmental activism turns out to be more danger than Victoria was hoping for.

Are you suggesting environmental activism would be too dangerous for her? It can get dangerous, especially where nuclear power is concerned. I didn't expect Victoria to chase something potentially dangerous.

J8st because she couldn't cope with constant threats from Daleks, Cybermen Psychopaths and the like doesn't stop her being really brave.

Victoria left in Fury of the Deep precisely because she was forced to cope with threats like that on a daily basis. She only joined the Doctor and Jamie because the Doctor felt he owed it to her recently deceased father to look after her, and was able to become part of a more normal family by staying with the Harris's. Downtime has her living a quiet life working at a museum before the Great Intelligence draws her back to Det-Sen and kicking off the plot.

Yes, and being in the equivalent of Greenpeace should not in any way be as scary as those experiences.
