Throwing to the wider thread, any recommendations to a neophyte? I think I've only ever heard Museum Peace and was pretty enamoured with it. The Toy was absolutely phenomenal. Leptidoptery for Beginners is very clever and fun and managed to surprise me, which is especially impressive since the title is somewhat telling. Are you looking for Short Trip recommendations in general? Or just for the rarities?

Well, if we both say it, then it must be true. xD

Well, I was only really thinking of the rarities, but knowing about the greater pool of Short Trips, in general, can't hurt. Anything in particular that I should have a look at?

Is their description a misnomer, surely they're just subscriber exclusive (for two years) Short Trips, what makes them rare and why did Big Finish name them as such?
Also how do the stories differ from standard Short Trips?
All this talk of them has me curious.
Thanks

Thanks From what I understand, there's nothing different about them to the rest of the Short Trips, it's just that they were previously only available as Main Range subscriber exclusives (except for The Toy, which I believe was only available to those who subscribed to some ongoing range of Doctor Who books - it might have been The Complete History, though don't hold me to that). So yeah, just more standard type/style Short Trips, but ones that were previously slightly more difficult to get your hands on

Though it gets a mixed reaction I quite like The Little Drummer Boy
and as I Posted up Thread in this batch The Switching is excellent, Twilight is a very good footnote, and Gadot, I like it but options may vary.

There's still quite a few Subscriber Short Trips that have yet to go on general sale ---> www.bigfinish.com/pages/v/doctor-who---subscriber-short-tripsI've got a few unlistened to, by me, Short Trips that I've purchased when they've been on sale. Will have to see if I can get into the range as normally I just focus on full-cast stuff.

I believe Lepidoptery is written by John Dorney. 'Nuff said.

My vote goes to the odd one out - Sound the Siren. It's not quite as experimental as the others, but it's got oodles of atmosphere, and Critchlow's Fourth Doctor is mesmerizing.

My top three favourites from 2017 so far (in release order): The Jago & Litefoot Revival (Parts 1 & 2 of a single story) is essential listening, especially now. Performed with all the usual sparkle by the infernal investigators themselves, it's really a Companion Chronicle in all but name. With a big surprise... I loved Falling, a charming tale for fans of Polly and Ben, perfectly performed by Anneke Wills. And Tony Jones ' beautifully era-authentic Steven and First Doctor story Helmstone, which as a Sub ST you'll already have of course.

Well, I was only really thinking of the rarities, but knowing about the greater pool of Short Trips, in general, can't hurt. Anything in particular that I should have a look at? There are soo many good Short Trips. It's easier for me to say ones I've not been keen on. (I'm also going to echo mark687 on the soon to be re-released short trips. The Switching isn't a story I necessarily enjoyed listening to, but I really liked the characterization and what it did story wise. I'm not sure if that makes sense. I thought Waiting for Gadot was great, personally.) Do you have favorite Doctors/TARDIS teams? I tried to narrow this down to absolute favorites that are currently readily available. I really, really did. Gardens of the Dead: I loved this. I'm a huge Five/Nyssa/Tegan/Turlough Team TARDIS fan, and this one is voiced by Mark Strickland. It's really awesome hearing things from Turlough's perspective? And the concept was fantastic. Molto bene. The Blame Game: Featuring Three, the Meddling Monk, and Liz Shaw. I feel like that's all you really need to know to decide if you'd be interested or not. Foreshadowing: This is an Eight story, and I don't want to give away what it foreshadows, but it's an amazing, amazing piece of work. Flywheel Revolution: First Doctor story, and I aspire to write as well some day. Bonus/from the sets: Sock Pig made me hecking cry in a very cathartic way. I adored Quantum Heresy perhaps a bit too much, as much for the story as the sound and voice acting. And I loved almost all of the Short Trips Volume 1. I've not listened to any of the most recent short trips, so I'm sure there are more!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions, I'll definitely take a look. I've already got Museum Peace (for a long time I thought it was the de facto final Eighth Doctor story like Master is to Seven), Lepidoptery for Beginners sounds like an absolute must, a Turlough perspective story sounds right up my street, Flywheel Revolution has got me really intrigued on its concept alone.
