I wonder who it could be. Any thoughts? Who would you most like to come back.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH- *ech-hem* My apologies for my most unseemly outburst. BUT SERIOUSLY MOFFAT YOU BEAUTIFUL BEERSTAND! Is that the swear filter changing bastard? EDIT: No, it's not. I'd like to see Andrew Smith do another TV story.

I'm leaning towards someone still attached to Doctor Who in the last few years at some point. I'm leaning Marc Platt, Andrew Smith, Andrew Cartmel or Terrance Dicks.
Imma guess Marc Platt.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

This is great news: I'm leaning towards someone who's kept active in TV writing since then and would suggest Rona Munro or Andrew Cartmel. I really want it to be Stephen Gallagher or Ben Aaronovitch or Terrance Dicks.

Victor Pemberton?
David Rodan?!
I suspect, though, it's going to be one of Andrew Cartmel's "team", after he argued so persuasively for their ability in Toby Hadaoke's Whosround.

This is great to hear. My guess is Andrew Smith, although Andrew Cartmel would be interesting if he were allowed to incorporate some of his Masterplan.

Every time I think I'm off and away to another programme, Doctor Who somehow manages to wrangle me back. I have a strong suspicion that it'll be someone from the Cartmel years towards the end of the original show's lifetime, it might even be Ben Aaronovitch, Andrew Cartmel or Marc Platt coming onboard.

Being realistic, the safest bet would be someone from the last few of the classic years, so Cartmel, Aaronovithch, Platt, and Munro are all strong possibilities. Now, Cartmel wasn't really a classic writer, strictly speaking, more like a EU writer. Aaronovitch is a reasonably successful writer nowadays, but he is Gaiman level busy, so maybe not that available. Platt is a regular BF contributor, so perhaps he's also too busy. Rona Munro is still active, but I don't think she has many things on her plate currently, and she would also fit Moffat's bill of more women writers. She is the strongest possibility, imo.

Andrew Cartmel said in a recent Toby Hadoke podcast that he would love to have a crack at the new series. However, I think it might be Rona Munro or Marc Platt. I'd be delighted with both - I hope it isn't the last time a classic series writer pens a story for 'Nu Who.'
