You might very well be right. Like I said, my memory isn't great. Someone seems to have spent time in Windcliff. I wonder why Stuart Manning is no longer involved with BF's Dark Shadows?

I do remember Time of Petofi. There was even some sort of glitch where I had an email saying that my order of it was coming (despite the fact that I hadn't ordered it nor did it exist). Listening to the very end of Kingdom of the Dead, one can see how that might have worked out. Joe, Davey, and co did a great job of introducing their own characters and drama while teasing those of us who had listened to KotD. Every time they talked about Collinwood, I remember thinking "why aren't they going up there?". I loved how Bloodlust did manage to respect both the ending of Kingdom of the Dead while also bringing the story into Collinsport while making an effective introductory tale for any new listeners (and a nice refresher for the rest of us of all the characters both old and new).
I'd like to have another audio with Petofi. The snippets we've had of him in The Blind Painter and The Crimson Pearl were great, but he's a villain I'd love to hear from again. While his hand might be hard to access, maybe he can still take its power, like he did during some body swap fun in 1897. A fan can dream, and still be wonderfully surprised when the audios go in different and better directions.

I believe it was "Time of Petofi" by Stuart Manning. I'm guessing that eventually Bloodlust might have turned out to be somewhat different? Amazon still has "Time of Petofi" listed for some reason - I don't think it's really ever been available? www.amazon.com/Time-Petofi-Dark-Shadows/dp/1844355977Amazon really pisses me off with things like this! Here's another one that I waited so patiently for and it never happened...yet they still have a listing, and, apparently a couple stores carry the book and it can be yours for about $2,000. Even though the book has never been printed and doesn't exist. Shouldn't there be rules against this? www.amazon.com/dp/1613450710/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=21YTAS6LAJ2I3&coliid=I9XF2H7KZA43CEDIT: Hmmmm...it now appears that after I complained to Amazon, they took down the stores who claimed to have it and it's now listed as "currently unavailable"...but still has a publication date of September 2014.

I miss Stuart in general...not necessarily at Big Finish because Joe and Davy have taken the ranges in amazing directions, but I met him at many of the Fests and he was just a nice guy. He also used to maintain the Collinwood.net site and basically one day it just stopped...no explanation. He still did cover art for the Dorian Gray range, and was instrumental in starting the really cool DS comics for Dynamite, but those had a good run and then ended....again, no explanation.

Dark Shadows celebrity Alec Newman (David Collins, Barnabas Collins) stars as Dr. Julius in the new and exciting audio adventure, Doctor Who: The Silent Scream, out now! www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-silent-scream-1235Makes one feel rather spoiled after yesterday's release of the third in a rare and excellent trilogy of adventures featuring Dark Shadows luminary Matthew Waterhouse as Fifth Doctor companion Adric. www.bigfinish.com/news/v/doctor-who---zaltysThis all makes me very happy, but it certainly doesn't do much to keep me from wondering when there'll be more Dark Shadows news.

That will help me to await Dark Shadows: Bloodline more patiently... NOT!!! When did he play Barnabas? I believe that's Andrew Collins, or Jonathan Frid in the case of the Night Whispers. I will be heard. I'm currently listening to Blue Forgotten Planet, also starring Alec Newman!

It's a reboot pilot that they only showed at a DS gathering wherein Alec played Barnabas, as I recall. Tracy can probably tell you about it, I think as a festival patron he might have had the good fortune of actually seeing it.

Are copies floating around the internet, or is it as gone as 1219?

I don't think I've ever heard of it having been seen aside from several festivals. www.imdb.com/title/tt0887892Drats, I went and left off some of Alec's other Dark Shadows appearances off there - Clothes of Sand, and The Ghost Watcher in which he is brilliant as Nathan Hawkins.

Shame, it'd be a good bone to throw the fans especially since it's one of the last things yet to receive a proper release. It'd have made a good extra on the Complete Series Coffin Box Set. I wonder if the CW would be interested in doing a re-imagining of Dark Shadows.

When did he play Barnabas? That's WHY he got his parts in the audios. Like Barbara Steele, Lysette Anthony, Roy Thinnes, Joanna Going, ... I believe I did mention that the obscurity of the 2004 pilot, only shown at Dark Shadows Festivals, was why I didn't recall his involvement with it and his role as Barnabas. I'd already acknowledged why and how I was initially mistaken by the time you'd gotten around to doing the reminding. It's rather interesting going from Roy Thinnes in the '91 show to Patrick Llewellyn in The Poisoned Soul, if only because they are such different people. Lysette Anthony is brilliant in Kingdom of the Dead, and I'm at a point in the original series where I can fully understand why she makes David see a certain phone.

The pilots been mentioned online quite a few times, specifically because of the Newman connection. Trace spoke quite well of it, I think. With it being WB, if it went to series it could have lasted for years. They're more charitable than other networks with renewals. Maybe in Parallel Time the show is going into Season 14 this year... For the rest of us... www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jHvA2NtqWU is all we get. And while her name popped up above, Joanna Going was the lead in Phantoms which I watched recently. Seeing her headlining a movie above Ben Affleck (post Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy and Shakespeare In Love, no less) was quite something.

Tracy can probably tell you about it, I think as a festival patron he might have had the good fortune of actually seeing it. Yes, I have seen it many times. It's a very "rough" pilot and feels unfinished. It has a hastily applied score that was not intended to be final, and is overall poor quality video, with "play", or "record" and a tape counter onscreen all the time. The cast was great, as you can see from Alec. And with Blair Brown (Liz), Martin Hewett (Roger), Matt Czuchry (Willie), and Oscar winner Jessica Chastain (Carolyn). I have wished for so long that it would turn up as a bonus feature on a DVD set, but that's always been negated by DS brass not feeling it to be worthy of everyone seeing it. Honestly, they should have been more concerned about 'Depp Shadows' than this harmless little gem. I expect it's gone the way of that restored version of 'Night of Dark Shadows' that we were promised....oh....about a decade ago? Perhaps more. I think if you want to see the 2004 WB (now CW) pilot, you're going to have to go a Fest.

Was it this version they considered KLS for Elizabeth or was that the 1990s version?

I think it was this one. KLS was still probably a tad too young for Liz in '91....although I guess in a show where Joan Bennett plays a mother to 40+ year old Frid and 8 year old Sharon Smyth at the same time, true age is irrelevant. 😄 I think it was quite good, save for a groan-worthy ending, which was thrown together to rush the pilot completion. It had all the makings though, of something wonderful. Kind of like what Depp Shadows could have been in the right hands, and what Night of Dark Shadows could have been if finished the right way....ah, the world of missed opportunities! Hold out hope though...you never know. It could still turn up, along with deleted scenes from Depp, and a restored NoDS! Stranger things.....
