On The Legend Reborn cover. Unless it's a picture that looks a lot like Victoria Winters but is actually Maggie. It is certainly Maggie amd Quentin on the cover for The Rahe Beneath. That is definitely KLS, and looks exactly like her...and no resemblance to Alexandra Moltke, certainly none that I can see. Enjoyed your post, but one other small point...you said Adam was the "teen Frankenstein"-type monster. I wouldn't have pegged Robert Rodan as a teenager on the show...late twenties maybe thirty-ish. Just a bit of clarification for newbies who would be scratching their heads looking for a kid.

Just a bit of clarification for newbies who would be scratching their heads looking for a kid. I mean in his character arc. He starts out all playful and innocent, the awkward child in the Barnabas, Julia and Willie dynamic (their dysfunctional family if you will). It's rather apt for the Frankenstein theme since part of the book was about the responsibility Victor didn't show the creature as the closest thing it had to a father. Soon Adam becomes like a teenager, falling for Carolyn and falling under the negative influence of Nicholas Blair (he even directly gives Adam drugs!), acting out and leaving home never to be heard of again (or at least until Big Finish give him a proper departure story like they did Harry Johnson).

No that is definitely KLS as Maggie on the Legend Reborn cover. I see it clear as day. I know KLS is the normal acronym used, but it always makes me think of KLF and consequently makes me wonder when the Collins family will have to face the Justified Ancients of Mu Mu...

I still love The Rage Beneath. It has a very tragic feeling of finality with Maggie's mournful opening voiceover, and if the series hadn't managed to catch on, could very well have been the end. "...the day the Collins family perished..." At the first listen, it almost felt like we were hearing that voiceover from a future-Maggie, and that she is relating the events long after they've happened. Of course, I'm very glad that wasn't the case, and that the perishing was only temporary--as perishing often is, in the DS world!
I love that scene with Barnabas and Angelique almost drowning as water rushes up through the floorboards in an attic room at Collinwood! Amazingly real scene, and really felt very visual to me! I could see it all so clearly. A mark of a near-perfect audio!
Most of all, I love "dark Maggie". Kathryn really shines with that, and I always have the same reaction to the scenes between her and Willie--they completely captivate me.
Maggie (with vacant stare and weary voice): "...come all ye young fellows that follow the sea...to me...way hey blow the man down....now please pay attention...and listen to me...give me some time to blow the man down...."
Willie (frantic with worry): "Maggie! Maggie! Are ya hurt, Maggie???"
Maggie: "everything hurts...."
My God!!! Beautiful stuff.

I feel these full cast stories are great on atmosphere and have some wonderful scenes and moments but they aren't as good as Bloodlust or even the audio books for me.
Bloodlust was long enough to support such a full cast and large plot line. The audio books on the other hand succeed by only focusing on 1 or 2 characters at a time.
As for Rage Beneath I loved the scene when Angelique and Barnabas almost drown. Not so much because I thought they would drown but it was a really intense scene between them. I guess it's a one sided love but they do have some sparkling chemistry.
The "Haunted Ship" setting of the story was nice & spooky and I like how we learn more about Barnabas' past. Perhaps the cliffhanger would have more of an impact if I had to wait but as it is I know the characters aren't going to die. I did feel bad for Maggie though.
It was also interesting to meet Susan when she wasn't a ghost!
Well next up Kingdom of the Dead. May actually try to listen to the whole thing next week since I may not have as much time after that.

Just a quick hooray to David Warner being in Kingdom of the Dead. If I had known, I had forgotten and it was a lovely surprise to my ears. I hope he has a big part in this.

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit, but just caught up within the last moments of season one (it really needs a name retroactively added). I remember first listening to The Rage Beneath, soon after it had come out and at the time, the producers weren't sure they would come out with more audios, so from that perspective the ending makes a lot of sense. It would be 2/3 years later before The Clothes of Sand and The Ghost Watcher came out. It make a bit of footwork for Kingdom of the Dead, but some great stories. As the series advances, the definition of small cast and full cast expands with some amazing results. The recordings went from getting everyone to meet up in one studio to record to the complicated transcontinental series of recordings and later sewing them all together into amazing audios that sounds like the dozens of are together in Collinsport.

I'll give the first disc a listen tomorrow. It's interesting that Big Finish chose to release this both as the box set and the four jewel cases one a month starting from July 2010. The same thing was done the year before with Iris Wildthyme Series 2, starting from the release month of the box set.

There are but the general rule of thumb of listen throughs is sticking to them without looking ahead partially for the benefit of new listeners using this as an excuse to catch up. The Bloodlust listen certainly would have been a sorry one with posting info from future instalments.

We'll need to revise the plans to do a Twilight Zone watch through sometime. We have Twilight Zone marathons on TV here every Independence Day and New Years. It's one of my favorite series And omega didn't really spoil me so it's all good!
