I just received a new package from Big Finish today. It came with an extra plastic bag around it and a "We Care" notice from the US Postal Service - "we sincerely regret the damage to your mail during handling ...." That feels me with dread.
The original package was torn and taped over. I don't think the black marks are tire marks this time. #217 The Memory Bank was inside and it appears to be intact. There are not pieces of jewel case broken all over the place this time around.
It looks like I was lucky (as opposed to when it was really run over).

It's amazing to me that the Post Office can just say "yeah we broke everything sorry" and that's supposed to be good enough.

On the other hand I just realized that I never received #216 Maker of Demons. That one appears to have been lost by the post office.

It wasn't a parcel from BF, but yesterday I received an Amazon order where the box wasn't just bent, but torn open - the postman didn't comment on it as he handed it to me. Both ends of the box were open and I was surprised the contents hadn't fallen out. The interior box that my order came in was a little bent but fortunately neither it or the contents were broken.
I will say that this is the only time I can recall receiving goods in such a state.

I could say it's an anomaly, but my family has made a point of it never to order anything online from the United States for that exact reason. Every time we've ordered something, it's somehow managed to be damaged or lost altogether. Irrespective of what it may have been. I remember getting a DVD release that when opened unleashed a torrent of ants all over my desk, something that the seller knew nothing about because the case itself was meant to have been sealed in plastic.
Impressed, I was not.

We've very rarely had issues with things coming out of the United Kingdom, China or Japan. I reckon it has something to do with the route it takes to Australia.

And careless handling of the package during transfer. Australia is a long way from the US.

It turns out that missing #216 Maker of Demons was not a post office problem. Big Finish had a mixup and sent Early Adventures - Age of Endurance instead. It seems that this happened to a few people. I had not noticed that it was mistake as I forgot I ordered just the download for the first time for this Early Adventures set. I had been previously ordering the CDs, but due to postage bump went for the downloads. I just received the explanation from Big Finish.
