Just finished story 2 and it was a good one. I was worried at first when mother earth was mentioned again but they managed to avoid retreading old ground. It was a very good story and Carol strikes again yet saves two other people. A complex character.
The main downside was that certain parts of the incidental music was ear piercing in some parts almost like feedback from a microphone.

Just finished the box-set and it really has been a corker. I can't say it is the best set, because the whole five sets have been absolutely terrific. Some series have been immediately affecting, instantly shocking - 1, 3 and 5. Series 2 and 4 have been more slow-burners - and there's nothing wrong with that. It's the variety of story-telling that makes the whole venture so commendable. For all the shocks, the doom-laden atmosphere, the restraint shown production-wise has maintained the horror rather than exploiting it. This has been wonderful - Carol is the most complex villain/non-villain of them all, beautifully played by Neve McIntosh. What an amazing actress. Thanks to all concerned!

Finished part 3. What a tragic tale, just getting electricity up and having no one there to use it. Paula's last living act was a futile one. The darkness kept pilling on and then the explanation of what happened at Peters school. Very dark and yet I couldn't stop listening.
On to part 4!

So that is series 5 finished. All in all a step up from series 4. The last episode was of a high standard through three quarters but the end just seemed to be something of an anticlimax unfortunately. Not enough to spoil it just to be a tad disappointing. Abby not wanting her friends to help her didn't ring true other than fitting in with tv continuity. I'd have hoped for the talented writers to come up with better ideas. I hope olé they sort out the background music as well. Some parts were ear piercing such as when Patrick killed Buster( ) it was actually painful!! I'd say my order of favourite series is 3,1,2,5,4

I'm a bit sad that this is the last (for now) set to have a single story arc. They've done such a wonderful job of it with this series that I'm feeling a bit wary of the news that Series 6 and 7 are going to be a bit more...episodic? If that's the right word?
Certainly didn't stop me from preordering both, though. This range is just too good to miss.

I really liked Carol I thought she was a great & complex character but I think its a good thing they are skipping ahead for the next set. I kind of wondered how long this series could go on and stay fresh. I think its good they are changing things up a bit.

Interesting to relisten this week for the first time since 2016. I don't think BF could or would do this one in the post covid world we are now in.
