Matthew Waterhouse is a profoundly good writer and I am excited that he is bringing his writing talent to Dark Shadows. His short story "Old Acquaintance" will be in a forthcoming audio anthology. If you haven't read any of his novels, this down time would be a good time for Dark Shadows fans to check out his recent short story collection, Sugar: A Quartet of Stories.

I found that story very moving too. And I saw Joe Lidster speak at an Doctor Who event recently and he said the same.
It's a great book. Four very different stories.

I have only read 'Blue Box Boy' by Matthew. Actually, that's a lie. I have the audiobook reading by the author himself and thoroughly enjoyed the writing and performance. I'm looking forward to 'Old Acquaintance' and might well look into his other novels.

The stories are diverse in Sugar. But one of the funniest lines that keeps running through my head is this one by a character: "I looked hot. I’d f--- me if I was you. And I'd probably let you."

Matthew isn’t a surprise when i heard him trapped in the web In Castrovalva there were some real emerging vocal talents there but i have now seen his writing in “Old Acquaintance”and his excellent role in Bloodlust and the Creeping Fog and now in the narration duties of the Last Orders at the Blue Whale...he simply loves the material and the writers have given him great Material to work with.it is the writers that make the range, all seem excellent.
If you had asked me back as a youth could i listen to Matthew narrate a whole book i would have said No but now, most certainly
