Actually, on this one, I think we should defer to him - he's the actor. If he wants to refer to his character as Doctor Who, then his character is Doctor Who. there are 13 men out there who have the right to call him whatever they please. The rest of us just have to nod. Steven Moffat said in DWM it's 'The Doctor'. 'Doctor Who' is the question. Didn't Verity Lambert refer to him as Doctor Who as well? Lambert Trumps Moffat if we're playing this game.

That was when the show was just merely a kids teatime educational show though, so the name wasn't too important. Steven Moffat is showrunner during a period where Doctor Who is a family primetime drama and the name of the titular character therefore is a big deal.

For me, the character in the show is called "The Doctor", whereas, from an outside point of view, "Doctor Who" is the cultural concept and what the character symbolises.

The truth is that I've seen a lot of people involved in the show over the years alternate between calling him "The Doctor" and "Doctor Who."
Frankly, it's not something worth quibbling about.

I think they should feature the Silence in a story. They were such a great monster I can't believe Big Finish haven't used them in anything yet.

To be honest I wondered if you were just humouring me. I genuinely didn't think anyone would go for it and you've made me a very happy man (yes I know, little things please little minds).

Tim Bradley's Fifth Doctor stories from Bradleys Basement get commissioned, i just finished reading The Tree Of Riverloth & once again Tim just gets that Fifth Doctor era so well & blends drama, humour, action & some great moments of subtle character drama.
Tim is a brilliant writer & a genuinely nice bloke, someone from Big Finish needs to check out his stories on Bradleys basement.

Tim is a brilliant writer & a genuinely nice bloke, someone from Big Finish needs to check out his stories on Bradleys basement. If we're talking about adapting fan fiction I would love this arc to be brought to life by Big Finish: www.aftdownloads.co.uk/AFT/Actionfiguretheatre/drwhoclassic/DvC/DVCHOME.htmDaleks vs Cybermen by Philip Lawrence at Action Figure Theatre - he even wrote the single-part 'Question Marks' on Main Range #150! We've had both monsters together in The Ultiamte Adventure and Army of Ghosts/Doomsday (as well as cameos together like The Pandorica Opens and Time of the Doctor; not Dalek/Cybermen stories per se), but this is different, an arc about a forgotten war across time and space between the two creatures - having them together in the same story FEELS different to a solo Dalek or Cybermen story. Before teh sereis came back to television in 2005 the other major joint appearances were in fan films -- Masterplan, a 2000 4parter which also featured The Master and Davros, and Flight of the Daleks. Daleks and Cybermen together is surprisingly rare! Mr Lawrecnes' stories would be a more 'classic' approach.

Just as long as you don't call it Dr. Who! Doesn't Peter Capaldi call the character Doctor Who? He also called the character "Doctor Disco", granted, that's what the script demanded..... /wince /wince /shudder

As I've wanted from the televised Who ever since the revival began, I'd love to see a non-human companion, or at least one who isn't from 20th/21st century Earth.
And sometime, give me a meeting between River and Jack, and I'll be very, very happy.
