Hey everyone,
What did we think of this year's Fourth Doctor releases?

A rather good run.
The last two episodes are inane at best.
The Genesis Chamber, after a period of reflection strikes me as overly long and rather boring. Shame.
Outside of the special releases over the last five years, nothing really ranks with a good 6th Doctor story.

The fifth series is the best 4DA series so far. I didn't care for every release, but I am highly enthusiastic about the vast majority of them. It's the most consistent and most fun 4DA series. I'm a particular fan of "The Labyrinth of Buda Castle" and "The Trouble with Drax".

A good run of stories. Trouble with Drax was too inconsequential for me, I'd rather the character had gone out of the story not having achieved his aims but still getting some small victory in there. The two-part finale was boring, bringing back a parrot subplot no one was asking to be brought back and tying up the loose ends from the Cuthbert arc.

I agree with many of the points made here. This has been the best run for the 4DAs so far, I think. 'The Genesis Chamber' is the first 'longer' story I've found difficult to get through. And despite the universal praise it has received, I too found 'The Trouble with Strax' too inconsequential to be thoroughly enjoyable - yet it's great we all have different views on these things. I found the first half of this latest series generally more enjoyable than the second. 'Wave of Destruction' contains the most authentic and amusing Series 17-type dialogue, and the Jonathan Morris two-parter was the best story of the bunch. There, that's that sorted!

After the Trouble with Drax, I'm wondering if Mrs Constance Clark (W/REN, AWOL) is actuslly Mrs Constance Clark (W/REN, AWOL) at all!

I thought so little of the first set of adventures with Cuthbert as the bad guy I've yet to listen to this current series final two-parter. I did love the Jonathan Morris penned two-part adventure and think it is easily the high water mark for the 4th Doctor and Romana II on audio.

After the Trouble with Drax, I'm wondering if Mrs Constance Clark (W/REN, AWOL) is actually Mrs Constance Clark (W/REN, AWOL) at all! "Big Finish has no comment to make at this time."

"In response to the rumours of an old man from another universe appearing under many different guises in ours: Big Finish would like to reassure everyone. We are working alongside all relevant agencies in their investigations. All enquires should be directed to our Chief of Investigations, Nicholas Briggs, or the BBC."
"We are also continuing to investigate the rumours of leaks to outside military organisations, and ask that anyone with information contact us. In particular, any suspicious activity involving an egg beater and toilet plunger should be reported immediately."

All around, a fantastic run - at least on par with Series Three for me as the best series for the 4DAs. The Trouble With Drax is one of my favorite Fourth Doctor stories yet and The Paradox Planet and The Legacy of Death are absolutely marvelous too. The weakest story was probably the first, but on reflection, even that wasn't "bad" - just a bit too average for my tastes.
