Tomorrow I will be moderating the Intro To Big Finish fan panel at LI Who. (Our wonderful kimalysong will be up there with me.) I don't know how many folks attending will be new to BF, or just people wanting to talk about it. I'm planning on discussing the best "New to BF" stories for each Doctor, and then for the extended BF Who and non-Who universes. So what do you guys think are the best stories to recommend to those new to BF for each Doctor, and for other ranges?

The Tenth Doctor Adventures would be a good start for a New Series fan. Similarly Jago & Litefoot & Strax: The Haunting as a gateway for Jago & Litefoot. All-Consuming Fire for both the Novel Adaptations and Sherlock Holmes, with Damaged Goods for the Novel Adaptations since RTD wrote the original story.
The Marian Conspiracy, which introduces the wonderful Evelyn and is the start of the Sixth Doctor renaissance.

Hmm...
For the general or Classic crowd: I would say The Eye of the Scorpion, The Marian Conspiracy (or The Holy Terror), The Harvest and Storm Warning.
For the more specifically NuWho crowd: If they're fans of the Time War, I'd point them towards The Apocalypse Element, which brought me over into Big Finish to begin with. (Avoiding Dark Eyes would be wise considering the amount of baggage behind it.) If they're fans of David Tennant, I'd point them to Colditz. If they're fans of Steven Moffat, I'd show them The Holy Terror. If they're fans of RTD's era, I'd show them The Reaping or Blood of the Daleks.

Well, as the 8th Doctor acts as something of a bridge between Classic and New Who and has no prior continuity to worry about, it might be a good decision to talk about the various McGann stories (maybe show NOTD first and point out who the companions he names were), I started with Storm Warning and have personally introduced a couple of other people to BF via it or Blood Of The Daleks, the stories are currently on sale which helps...

6th Doc and Evelyn or 8th Doc and Luice and onwards with the 8th Doc
Torchwood
Give a shout out to the 10DAs, Classic Docs New Monsters, J&L and Strax.
Possibly Dorian as its an US audience (though I'm sure you have that already in mind )

I'd definitely recommend the monthly Short Trips (£2.99 each is a steal), Spare Parts (and almost anything from first 50 MR), Picture of Dorian Gray (obviously) but as it comes with the first story Our World this Hell it's a good intro to the range. Also Survivors as a range in itself
Cheers

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Zagreus yet. Straightforward, accessible to newcomers, it's the perfect introduction. ... I think Fourth Doctor Adventures and the 7th Doctor Lost stories are brilliant and I think they're great at capturing the feel of their era. I'll add my voice to the chorus extoling the virtues of the pre-50 Main Range titles. I think the *very* earliest ones are little bit clunky because Big Finish had not yet found its groove, but they're so inexpensive and so good that you'd be crazy not to. Anything with Evelyn and Conspiracy is a great introduction. I enjoyed Curse of Davros. My main complaint was that Flip seemed an awful lot like Rose in the story, but that familiarity might make it a good jumping on point for people familiar with the revived show.
