OH MY GOD,.
The Vastada Nara inserted into the wonderful gothic years of the Hinchcliffe era with John Dorney on writing duties?!!
THIS IS PERFECT.

WOW WOW WOW!!! This is so exciting! The only thing that would make me even more eager for this box set to come out is if the other two stories are a First and Second Doctor story (a long shot I know but I can dream)
Power of The Daleks has only just premiered over here on Australian Itunes and I don't know popular the animated episodes have been, but it wouldn't surprise me if we saw a Second Doctor tale in a future box set.
It'd be a nice pitch to the revival audience for the Early Adventures.

This is fantastic news. Obviously Dorney has been listening to us a lot more than we realised. Taking in all our great ideas. IN DORNEY WE TRUST!
Only for him to break our hearts That man is brilliant, but evil.
Calling it now: I'm guessing that the stand-in companion who The Doctor bonds with after some initial grumpiness will meet a nasty end, adding to The Doctor's gloominess in The Face of Evil.

I was a little worried when I read that it was the Fourth Doctor up against them, the thought of a manic Tom against such a creepy monster ... could be a disaster. Then I saw it's written by dorney , panic over Cheers Tony
Eh, Tom can be subtle.

It'll be intresting to see how Four interacts with the stand-in companion. I wonder if we'll see him being particularly 'alien', maybe getting annoyed that the character isn't acting the way Sarah would. (He's also just had a nasty encounter with the Time Lords, as well and would want to get back on farmaliar ground) It would be a nice introduction for the revival audience to the whims and eccentricties of the Fourth Doctor and might make for some nice momments of black comedy.
FOUR:
Well, come on, then.
COMPANION:
I was nearly eaten alive.
FOUR:
Well, you weren't (Beat) (Softer) Time to get a move, on.
COMPANION:
I don't feel like smiling.

It's four discs. I've seen it floated around that this set was announced as being Docs 5-8, and I'm not sure where that came from. My brief a year and a half ago was for Tom! For my part, that was my operating assumption. My two reasons for thinking that were that 1) that's what the first set was, so it seemed reasonable to assume the second would be the same; and 2) Tom Baker seems to appear pretty well exclusively in ranges and releases that star his and his Doctor alone, so I hadn't expected he would appear in a 'group' release. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased to be wrong
I think it has more to do with scheduling, then anything else. Big Finish record most of Tom's output well in advance - I'd imagine there just wasn't time last year to schedule in a CDNM adventure. Four is The Doctor Big Finish would want to have at the forefront of such a range.

I hope we don't see the same compromise in exploring the emotional reprecussions of the adventure between original and revival audiences in a future CDNM release for the Fifth Doctor. I think most of Big Finish's audience would be receptive to the emotional consequences of a tale being explored and it's really a loud and vocal minority who would take issue with it.

This is an unexpected (and very welcome) surprise! My big question though--is this now a 5-story set, or (more likely) will Colin or Sylvester or Paul be absent from the final product? Wishful thinking: Fourth through Eight all appear, but one of the stories will be a two Doctors story. It's four discs. I've seen it floated around that this set was announced as being Docs 5-8, and I'm not sure where that came from. My brief a year and a half ago was for Tom! Ooh, looking forward to it. Already pre-ordered a while ago!

I am vaguely recall that the only details on the product page was the presence of Davison, Colin, McCoy, and McGann. I could just be misremembering that.

I think this set being 4-7 is most likely, with Paul wanting to move forward into the Time War (making him a 'New' Doctor).

I think this set being 4-7 is most likely, with Paul wanting to move forward into the Time War (making him a 'New' Doctor). I loved the Sontaran Ordeal but I was surprised that McGann not T.Baker appeared in the first set, I've always considered McGann's Dr more of a wilderness years/inbetween Doctor rather than a Classic one (and his audios EDA S1+ are much closer to New Who in pacing and tone than his M.R stories) judging by how popular/fitting River's appearances in the Doom Coalition sets I'm kinda surprised BF wanted to separate his Doctor from New Who elements, he's moving towards the Time War which bridges Classic and Old Who anyway and it would make sense if elements from the New Series appeared in 8th Dr boxsets.

Horrible, horrible affliction. I took paracetamol when I had it, and found that much more affecting than enything else. And yes, it does go away! Sorry, off-topic.

I won't argue with anyone who shares your sentiments, but I'd most certainly be willing to pay for a CDNM Special with Doctors 1, 2 and 3. And in turn I certainly won't begrudge you buying and enjoying Part of me is not hot on it either, but it would get a little repetitious if it was always 5, 6, 7 and 8 without at least giving something to the first three.

I have pre-ordered this release with the expectation of them being "full cast". I am more than happy for Tom's Fourth Doctor to be in the set, but personally I am not keen on the earlier Doctors as played/portrayed by a different actor.
