Hill Street Blues: "Eugene's Comedy Empire Strikes Back" - A comedian named Vic Hitler might be the most hilariously inappropriate and unfortunate name I've ever seen. Maybe look into adopting a stage persona, there, buddy. Could be a good reason you're out of work.

A first ever watch of Jonathan Creek, the first 3 episodes. I like it, Colin Baker as a raunchy artist gets bumped off in the opener and Peter Davison is in one of the next ones as a priest. Quite funny with wacky supporting characters.

Last night I finished watching 'Brooklyn Nine Nine' (I think it took me just under three weeks to watch from start to finish). I enjoyed it, I really enjoyed it...

Avatar:The Last Airbender Season 1, episode 14, The Fortune Teller I love this show, and this episode was so relevant to today. Villager: "Can your science explain why it rains?" Soka: "YES! Yes, it can!"

Hill Street Blues: Season 3, Episodes 20-22 - A great run of episodes to finish off a season which has had a lot of major developments already. I didn't think I could be so impressed by a finale which involved Dennis Franz wrestling a robot, but here we are.

Blackadder: Series 1 (all 6) - I felt like replacing MASH in our viewing schedule with another comedy, and Mr Polly said he hasn't seen much of this show, so Blackadder it is. It's been a long time since I've seen anything from the first series. As noted by everyone else on the planet, it's quite different and not quite as good. However, it's not terrible either. I think "The Archbishop" and "Witchsmeller Pursuivant" are standouts compared to the rest. And while Fry, Laurie, and Richardson are MIA, we do get BRIAN BLESSED in the exchange.
Overall, it got stronger as it went along, and by the finale Blackadder's characterization is much closer to the rest of the series than it was in Episode 1.

I actually rather like that Edmund Blackadder’s characterisation isn’t as strong or developed as later series. He is the first Blackadder after all and isn’t as cunning or sardonic as his descendants would later become.

The Fortelling and The Queen of Spain's Beard are my standouts from the 1st series. Regards mark687 Queen of Spain's Beard was a strong episode as well. The Infanta's translator was probably my favorite side character from the entire first series. I agree wholeheartedly. I actually rather like that Edmund Blackadder’s characterisation isn’t as strong or developed as later series. He is the first Blackadder after all and isn’t as cunning or sardonic as his descendants would later become. That's an interesting way to look at it, I hadn't thought of that. He certainly develops more over the course of the episodes than some other incarnations do. Though of course, one wonders when he had time to father children given his untimely demise and lack of success with the ladies...

Seen with hindsight, Blackadder I is a strange relation of the rest of the family, but from my end of TV time it's the Original and I love it!
And all the rest too of course, but it was a culture shock when series II aired and we got the likes of "Bob" & Lord Flashheart ('Woof!' ' Woof!') and some 'unconvincing grassy knolls' (as Edmund said in 'Cape and Capability', or was it 'Amy and Amiability' anyway the highwayman episode of III ) in place of the grand on-location style of series I ! I can never decide which series is my favourite, which is probably a good sign of a TV classic.

I'm nearing the end of another complete (at least, as complete as the BBC tape-wiping policy allows ) run through of 'Adam Adamant Lives!', ahead of BF's Vol 2 of their rebooted series. (Though the two entities are quite different really.)
Enjoyed one of the highest points last night with 'The League of Uncharitable Ladies' which is one of the episodes directed by Ridley Scott. (Yes, the actual.)

Hill Street Blues: Season 4, Episodes 1-3 - They brought back a recurring character from Season 1 and it ended up being very sad. Thanks, show.

Hill Street Blues: Season 4, Episodes 4-5 - This is shaping up to be the best season yet. The combined powers of Steven Bochco, David Milch, and Mark Frost are really cookin' on all burners now.
Only Fools and Horses: Series 3, Episodes 1-2 - Of bungalows and lawn mower engines.

Tales from the Crypt
‘Korman’s Kalamity’
An oddly meta contribution from Tales from the Crypt. Doesn’t really work as a comedy nor a straight up horror piece.

Hill Street Blues: Season 4, Episodes 6-7 - Very sad to see a memorial title card for Michael Conrad before Ep 7. His character was the heart and soul of the show. I wonder how they'll write him out.
Only Fools and Horses: "Friday the 14th" - I did not expect an episode about an axe murderer and a dark and stormy night, but it turned out to be hilarious and one of my favorites so far.

That's the episode I cited a few weeks back. Pleased you liked it - it's the favourite and probably most watched with my family. I was always amused to see Del & Rodney finish Monopoly in the same way myself and my Brother often did. The joke about the helicopter 'It's Barratt's' references a well known advert featuring Patrick Allen (The Black Seal nemesis in the final episode of the first series of Black Adder that you just watched) for a UK House Building company of the time. He was also the voice of the Protect & Survive public information films referenced in Johnny Morris's 7th Doctor Audio. Are you familiar with the original Highlander movie? The Axe murderer plays the Pontiac Firebird driving Vietnam Vet Vigilante who gets 'skewered' in that film. Filmed in the same docklands warehouse area as Resurrection of the Daleks, I believe. Anyway - trivia overload. I always get told to keep quiet whenever we are watching anything interesting for obvious reasons

Yeah, our family rarely finished games of Monopoly and very often they ended in a fight. And if you think that's bad, you should have seen my brother and I play Risk... The Barratt's thing was lost on me, so thanks for that explanation. I like Highlander very much, yes! Didn't recognize the actor, but that's pretty common for me. So another worthwhile tidbit.
