The Twilight Zone 85: Season 1, Episodes 4-5 - This show has quickly devolved into the kind of ho-hum stories I sat through on Night Gallery. There are interesting and amusing moments here and there, but the overall stories are not particularly interesting.
Hill Street Blues: "In the Belly of the Bus" - Man, digging up plot threads from Season 1 is commendable, but it makes my brain work overtime. "Oh right, isn't that the guy..." I approve of Peter Jurasik's increased role.

I’m hoping you meant the new Twilight Zone (because you’re dead on), but if you’re talking about the classic Twilight Zone you can go sit in the corner and think about how wrong you are

Very disappointing given that I am a big fan of Jordan Peele & his films which have a definite Rod Serling influence. I like that the show has a lot more diversity in its cast & therefore themes but for me the episodes are too long, many of them about 40 - 50 minutes. What worked really well for me was the original series told a concise story in about 25 minutes. I think that shorter format lends itself to the stories, I have a similar problem with some of the Black Mirror episodes also. For those that are fans of the original show this 3 hour doc on BBC Radio Four is worth listening to.

Karl Urban is awesome in this series, he definitely deserves another crack at Dredd loved him in that movie. I only saw his Dredd very recently and I agree with you. I would love to see him as Dredd again. More than once! A Judge Dredd tv show is in the works & the rumour is they want Karl to reprise his role. He is also good in Thor as Skurge.

If you're working at CBSAA or Disney+ or wherever, making a show which is designed specifically for a streaming format, where there are no timeslots to fit into, and no need to structure your script around commercial breaks, and the international distribution is generally done through another streaming service like Netflix....why are so many shows continuing to try to adhere to the 25 / 50 minute format? If you can tell your story effectively in 32 minutes, go for it. If your story is too big for a 'standard' 45 minute timeslot and you need 55, go for it. If it comes out shorter than expected and is done in 19 minutes, you've got a free hand to do that, too. Maybe it's just as simple as 'old habits die hard,' I don't know.

Raised By Wolves, a new sci-fi show about two androids raising a new generation of children on a desolate planet, against the backdrop of 2 warring factions of humans, one atheist one religious. Intriguing so far.

I love the original, please don't give me 40 lashes for that. Though while we're at it, I am no fan of Jordan Peele's version by any means. Season 1 was a torturous experience. Have not come back for Season 2.

Perhaps, from what you're saying, there's good reason for why I don't remember it!

I've started watching it, am enjoying it. So far between the 4 TZ shows, I'd say it's a solid second place. There have been a couple of stories with the classic series spark to them, but I just feel like hour-long episodes with 2-3 stories each is a format that fosters some haphazard selections. Because instead of doing a season of half-hour shows where you need 20ish good ideas, now you're in the market for 50-60 stories and you can't be so picky. Like, Bruce Willis meeting his doppelganger, or Terry O'Quinn confronting a shapeshifting alien, I'm on board with that. A popcorn fart nothing of a story about magic lamp wishes being like the DMV, or Cupid messing with yuppies, not so much what I'm looking for.

Re-watching Community. Man this show has aged well. I think I like it even more now then I did at the time. The pool episode is still one of the all time greats, but I'd forgotten how great the Valentine and Pottery episodes were XD

Hill Street Blues: Season 6, Episodes 5-6 - I don't know how the network ever let them get away with a statue resembling a giant you-know-what. Which squirts water.
The Twilight Zone '85: Season 1, Episode 6 - This was a better episode than the last couple. The first story was just okay, but nicely reminiscent of the original series. The second story, "A Message from Charity" felt like an 80s show, but is probably the best single segment yet.

If David Tennant doesn't win best actor for his utterly chilling yet hypnotic performance as Des it would be a grave injustice.

It's got some nice entries like "Nightcrawlers" or "Shatterday", but I find for some episodes, I get more out of it if I switch across and watch it in monochrome.

DES
after 2 gripping episodes i found the final one a bit of a let down, more crown court that big trial and a bit of a damp squib to end on......
but Tennet was top notch throughout not sure about may's but defiantly wins cigarette waver of the year.......
but to be truthful I do find these docudrama's on such recent events when many of those effected still with us, questionable and a bit uncomfortable to watch but compelling at the same time.
as with Sheridan smith in Moorside, Tennet goes to show give them a real character to play and they just nail it no fuss, no whistles and bells just a honest and truthful portrayal.
