The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
Episode Six
Action scenes were great but I can’t help but feel they dropped the ball on certain aspects of the finale. And I still remain unconvinced by Karli as the antagonist.

Columbo Troubled Waters, he can't even take a holiday without having to solve a murder.
Columbo It's All In The Game, Columbo at his deceiving best, Peter Falk also wrote this one.

Ah, the "joys" of cultural differences between English speaking TV productions and German ones. Well, I remember my childhood and my favorite kids series (incidently about some time travellers) where the main actors appeared nude several times, and nobody was battering an eyelid. Just because for future people, nudity was completely normal. Fast forward tonight's dinner. Watching my German crime show. G rated. Suddenly, the hero police man runs out of the shower. Full male frontal nudity. In 3 different camera angles. Sadly, the hero is NOT Chippendale material, he is a little overwéight guy. Needless to say, since this came unexpected, not really conductive for my dinner.... Right. After I was over the "shock", imagine my disappointment when I found out that the second good looking hero of this show does NOT appear in similar shots in any of the episodes (although he loses his shirt and you see him in his undies in every second episode or with bare bloody chest after fencing half naked with the bad guys). Got to love German television....
Edit: Might have to add- this is a show produced by state public television WDR. As was above mentioned kids show.

Finished Life in Colour. Wasn't an absolutely top shelf Attenborough in the way that the Planet Earth series were, but I still quite enjoyed it. And I hope that if I make it to 96, I'm even half as spry as he is lol
Now juggling three shows... Midnight Diner at night like I was saying above, and decided to alternate seasons of Schitt's Creek and Avatar: The Last Airbender (and Korra once I get that far). I've never seen either show before, and while it's still early days (done S1 of SC and nearly done S1 of ATLA), I'm enjoying both.

U can tell the exact moment they were told it was getting cancelled, the whole plot line immediately changed with some huge backtracking.

The first episode of the animated (not for kids) series Invincible. Excellent. Really damned good. Highly recommended, and I can't wait to watch the rest.

Today I've been making my way through the 1966 'Green Hornet' series (I'm wrapping up episode 15 before bed), and have to say that I'm certainly enjoying it more than I thought I would!

Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Thoroughly enjoyed it, animation is superb, I love the darker tone compared to The Clone Wars (which itself got dark) and the leads feel more rounded than their previous appearances. The highlight for me is Omega and the early transitions from the Republic to the Galactic Empire; I hope that continues to be touched upon throughout the show, even if it doesn’t dominate. The Kanan appearance was a bit of an odd one. Like they went to the efforts to honour the events of the comic... and then didn’t! Star Wars has been spot on with canon since the reset in 2014, but the few examples it’s slipped up have all been flashbacks - Ahsoka, Cobb Vanth and now Kanan - which might be how it’s justified; slightly different recollections. Or the infamous “from a certain point of view”.

The latest NCIS: Los Angeles. This was actually a tense episode.. The team was infiltrated and vocally/facially "deep faked" . The absence of reliance of simple technology like a phone was cool to see.

In addition to the other stuff I've got going on...the pilot episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. I was pretty underwhelmed with these characters' story arc in the last season of The Clone Wars, so while curious about the show I was not as excited as I might've been (still stayed up to watch it at premiere though). Very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

After having dropped off during its initial broadcast back in... 2009(!), Castle is available on Disney+. Ah, well, better later than never. A reasonably cosy murder-mystery procedural with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic. It used to run head-to-head with another series called Bones, which handled similar subject matter with a heavier forensic emphasis. Turns out, I dropped out on that initial run just as it got extremely good. The character work, development and particularly the acting really excel during those later seasons. They were able to keep some of the frivolity while at the same time tackling some quite personal subject matter like revenge, PTSD, loyalties, even the general process of growing up.
