Jimmy Savile documentary on Netflix, how the hell did this man escape justice for over 50 yrs? This documentary has to be seen to be believed, shocking, as somebody who experienced sexual abuse when i was aged 12 i still suffer to this day & never let a man shake my hand or if think going touch me i go into attack mode that how bad it screws one up, it a reason why i never settled down with a woman or let anyone get close to me because that trauma triggered my mental health, OCD issues i endure to this day. I cried watching this hearing the victims who's crys for help went unheard. I hope he's burning in hell for eternity. Sending u bro hugs from Jnr and me mate.. :-)
When the story came out about "this" I had to ask my 3 UK born and bred work mates who he was, he wasn't really that well known here at all.. They are all 5-15 years older than me and they all watched him on the telly growing up every chance they could..
I have just started watching the doco now and I feel sick.. My boy is out at the moment with mum, there is no way I will watch this doco with him in the house.

I was frightened of this guy growing up, Im Sure as a nation we knew! but the nudge nudge wink wink attitude of the 70/80’s allowed it too happen. I’ve just watched it, n he still makes my skin crawl, the shot with him n Gary glitter ewwwww such a shame this man wasn’t what he appeared. as for the documentary not sure it told us any more than we knew, n didn’t really give the victims a voice.most interesting part was seeing Selena Scott n saying how uncomfortable she was when it appeared the was playing along…… cameras really do hide the truth. n timelord it’s hard on you, living with your demons 24/7, you had more trauma than most too deal with n you deserve some closure….you ok with a virtual hug, or you gonna deck me for that….. Virtual hugs are fine, that scene with Gary Glitter had me seething it like they were having there own private joke about who they going abuse later i hope they both burning in hell, my God i felt for the victims i cried, how did this man get away with it for 50 yrs? The power & control he had over the police, politicians & royalty was crazy especially hearing the royals contacted him for PR advice.

What is more disturbing is how high all of this is. Protected by police. Friend of royals (probably offered Andy some tips), Thatchers bestie... And we know the likes of Ted Heath was a nonce as well. I never, ever underestimate the Southern establishments feilty to their "betters". They really do operate above the law. The ones that have been done are just sacred cows to be offered up. The real truth....would destroy the monarchy, the Tories, the Union. Terrifying how much power & control he had, reports of his antics would go missing, those he abused never came forward, he had the police & politicians in palm his hand utterly terrifying. I remember when i was abused & went to the police in 1987 & they virtually accused me of lying & attention seeking, the police officer looked angry at me & basically said if your making this up I'd be prosecuted, no counciling back then & the police made me feel so uncomfortable & scared me i didn't go through with prosecuting him, something to this day i regret. At least services with dealing with child abuse are much more sensitivity handled nowadays than when it happened to me.

He is utter scum mate, he even makes jokes in interviews he was doing it & still the police did nothing as he had such power over everybody which is terrifying. His funeral was like something you'd expect from royalty, his fundraising & charity work all a scam, the devil wears many disguises & in this case he wears a tracksuit & smokes a cigar. My niece used to say i was a overprotective uncle, i had a text earlier from her she 21 & she watched the documentary & said now i understand why you were so protective of me growing up. My heart breaks for all those he abused, the trauma never leaves you & to this day i sometimes scream out at night from PTSD.

I watched the documentary yesterday. To be honest, I had never heard of the man until he was mentioned a few times on this forum over the years. What a horrific man. I thought the actual documentary was overly long though. Way too much emphasis on who he was and his charitable work, not enough time giving the victims a voice. But yeah, every pound he raised for charity is poisoned by the thought that he was doing it purely so that he could continue abusing children. And that those is power let is go on is disgusting.
Prior to watching this I had thought he had been found out before he died, but damn!! The fact that he never had to pay for what he did or face his victims before he died is heartbreaking.

Wow. So the police tried to cover it up. I feel like the BBC were scapegoats in the Saville controversy.

For some reason, they’ve started repeating Peter Davison’s version of the The Last Detective from the early noughties so I’ve started rewatching it.
Much like Campion, I always thought Dangerous Davies was one of the more underrated literary sleuths. Be very easy to update as well especially considering it’s not like the character is tied to any specific era.

“Static” - Comedy Playhouse
One of Rob Beckett’s contributions to a recent series of Comedy Playhouse.
Very old fashioned and it’s easy to see why it didn’t get picked up for a full series.

Currently watching “Chalk” David Bamber and Nicola Walker are really excellent in this and it’s just so unfortunate it was treated unfairly back in the day.
