My favourite bit was Peter Pan cheating on Wendy with Tinkerbell. The revolving stage turning round to reveal the affair was brilliant. Absolutely - then the tour of the Beeb on the pirate ship. They always had great one liner payoffs to the physical comedy too. I'm with you - I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Mary Darling/Nanny/Tink having to change outfits in seconds was a fave of mine. And the taxis.... You can buy it from the BBC Store. There doesn't appear to be a DVD/Blu-ray release though. A shame because so many terrible TV Shows/Specials get the Blu-ray treatment, but rare gems like this and Murder In Successville often seem to be forgotten about.

Whilst I haven't seen the special in full (I've seen bits of it, but not all of it yet), but I saw the full production in London at the beginning of the year and have to say that I absolutely loved it! Whilst I'd be happy to buy the TV-version on DVD, I think I've love to buy a copy of the full theatrical version of it (which runs for another 45-odd minutes), just so I could watch it through again...

I got a chuckle out of the Teletubbies part, but I think I'd rather see the original theatrical version of it (which, admittedly, would be rather difficult to stage)...

Great news! In light of this announcement, could the moderators perhaps change the name of this thread to 'The Play That Goes Wrong'?

Huh. Didn't see that one coming!
My parents and i still haven't watched the 'PPGW' special in full (maybe one for when I get home from work on Christmas Eve?), but I'm certainly looking forward to this one!

It's certainly a late announcement. So late in fact that I assumed they weren't doing another this year. With the state BBC comedy is in at the moment, I wouldn't mind if they turned it into a series of plays going wrong. Peter Pan Goes Wrong was a lot funnier than any of those awful Comedy Playhouses they aired this year.

I certainly wouldn't mind if they did a series of them either, I certainly think 'The Play That Goes Wrong' would be perfect for a slightly edited down special! (There wasn't anything really wrong with it, but it could have been a few minutes shorter & some of the "mistakes" seemed a little bit too polished...).

At this point I think the BBC would be better just handing off their comedy slots to outside companies like the Play That Goes Wrong people. I think the genius of The Play That Goes Wrong is that there are so many elements that could go wrong in something being performed on a stage that it will be a while before they run out of ideas. I think that was one of the interesting aspects of studying drama (even though I was hopeless at it!) at Secondary and my first year at Sixth Form. Also, things going wrong in general is a very funny concept. If something goes wrong it can be very easily turned into a joke, even if it's something not inherently funny like missing a bus or train.

“Who are you?” “Head of the BBC” *Holds up ID* “That’s a Twix.
About a minute in to A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong and I was already howling with laughter. Absolutely hilarious.

Another brilliant Christmas Special for TV. Loved the chroma key green screen Have, and the car going into Derek Jacobi at the end.
As usual the rest of my family called it 'corny' and 'silly', as they do with practically every comedy that airs on TV...

i think there must be something wrong with me, as with last years....i really hated it turning it off after 15 minutes.
too me it just feels forced, ridiculious and unfunny, like the all star record breakers efforts from my child hood or the daft sketches on things like crackerjack.
sorry guys......not for me...glad you lot are enjoying it but i am sure we can do much better than this.......
but minor gripe too was why was it on new years day? xmas is over it should have been on xmas eve instead of the of films we have already seen!
