Thought I'd create a thread to discuss the awesome one-off comedy that is Peter Pan Goes Wrong. I'd heard of Mischief Theatre before but only seen odd snippets of their shows on TV variety shows, but their TV one-off special Peter Pan Goes Wrong was by far the best comedy of the year. There were so many great lines, my favourite being 'It's supposed to be the boy who wouldn't grow up, not the boy who wouldn't keep it in his pants' (talking about the actors playing Peter and Wendy being a couple), and memorable moments (I especially loved the pirate ship gatecrashing Teletubbies).
The BBC should hire Mischief Theatre to make one-off New Year specials every year. I'd love to see them do Aladdin!

This should have been on Christmas Day (probably, in all truth, in the 'Doctor Who' slot). Very, very, very funny indeed.

I never started laughing! Turned off after 20 minutes, if this is what masquerades as comedy these days count me out.
It reminded me of the half baked Christmas shows like all star record breakers & playaway from kids TV of my youth.

It's the kind of thing I'd want to watch again and again, to see if there was anything in the background I missed the first time round.

I emailed Mischief Theatre and the BBC Worldwide Format Sales department about a potential DVD/Blu-ray release:
Hello,
I hugely enjoyed your New Years' Special Peter Pan Goes Wrong and was disappointed to find that there isn't a Blu-ray pre-order on Amazon. Please release this wonderful comedy on DVD/Blu-ray as it is one of those comedies I'd love to be able to watch again and again. I'm sure there are plenty of things I probably missed the first time round that I'd probably notice on a rewatch, as it seemed like one of those programmes where a lot of care and attention had been taken into producing the content.
If a Blu-ray release isn't possible, I hope it will be made available on the BBC Store. It would be a shame to be unable to watch Peter Pan Goes Wrong again as it is probably my favourite televised comedy in ages.
Kind Regards, Sean Bassett
Not received a response from BBC Worldwide yet, but Mischief Theatre got back:
Hi Sean, Thanks so much for taking the time to get in touch and for your kind words about the show. We don’t believe the BBC currently have any plans to release the show on DVD or Blu-ray, but hopefully the more messages they get from viewers such as yourself, the more they might consider it! Best Wishes, Sarah
It seems that Mischief Theatre are hoping for it to be released, so if you want to see a DVD/Blu-ray release of Peter Pan Goes Wrong, email the BBC to let them know.

I'm on it now lol. If it does get released its an insta-buy for me
Also I found the actress playing Toddles (The one who's constantly getting injured) Really attractive. More so than the ones who played Mary and Tink lol

I've noticed some of the cast are on Twitter, Dave Hearn (the Crocodile no one liked - "Snap Snap") is @davehearn2 and you can see the others on his timeline.
Just in case you want to tweet praise/gratitude to the cast themselves.

I'm not sure a radio show would work as well. Their style seems very visual going by Peter Pan Goes Wrong and their Royal Variety Performance snippets.

I'm not sure a radio show would work as well. Their style seems very visual going by Peter Pan Goes Wrong and their Royal Variety Performance snippets. I think that's underestimating the amount of character work they were doing a little. Within the first five minutes of the show they established several characters and many of the routines in Peter Pan were based on callbacks to those initial character moments, from the pretentious director having a freakout because the audience were treating it as a panto, the actor delivering his dialogue in an incomprehensible accent, Dennis completely missing his cues. It's all humour based on character and dialogue rather than anything visual. From what I understand they carry some of these characters through from show to show, so it's probably even easier to adapt the visual/dialogue based humour around them. And that's also not to underestimate what audio is capable of as a medium. Andrew Sachs did an entire radio play with no dialogue.

I just caught up with this and it was absolutely hilarious. It's almost ridiculously British, you'd need to know the Panto tropes to know what the pastiches are, I think, though a lot of the slapstick and wordplay was terrific. Really funny.

When Tinker Bell got electrocuted and Suchet had to fill in by stealing Hook's moustache and doing Poirot....absolutely terrific. Not 30 seconds of it went by without a laugh. What a talented troupe.

My favourite bit was Peter Pan cheating on Wendy with Tinkerbell. The revolving stage turning round to reveal the affair was brilliant.

Brilliant! He really got into the spirit of it. I'd no idea he was in it - it's Suchet week for me. Let's just cast all these guys as the next Doctor - an ep each.

They always had great one liner payoffs to the physical comedy too. I'm with you - I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Mary Darling/Nanny/Tink having to change outfits in seconds was a fave of mine. And the taxis....
