Makes sense, gives a new production team and lead more time to settle in.

Makes sense, gives a new production team and lead more time to settle in. It really doesn't. Why would you move the series back to Spring, then to Autumn the following year? If this is true, Charlotte Moore should be putting her foot down and telling Chris Chibnall that Series 11 must air Spring 2018.

"Chibnall told RadioTimes.com that he has not yet been able to fully dedicate himself to Doctor Who. After finishing work on Broadchurch he intends to take a holiday before launching into Doctor Who."
This is starting to sound like another case of a showrunner overextending himself.

R.I.P. Doctor Who, then, I suppose.

In this case, not exactly. He's getting it out of the way so he can go full hog on Who, which is a good thing. Plus, Series 11 is likely already nearing pre-production, so a lot of this is just Chris' housekeeping.

In all seriousness, though, the show is gonna be in a state in a year's time if they take too many silly risks like they are rumored to be doing. Wouldn't be surprised if the show got canned, at this rate. It really doesn't understand the public. It only seems to understand the fans (during Capaldi) and children (during Matt Smith). I really think that it's a very, very bad idea.

Wasn't the whole "It has to be in the Spring in 2017" so it could be in the spring for the forseeable future? I thought it wasn't doing as well in Autumn and that's why it moved. Or are we just getting seasons every 18 months forever instead?

By the time series 11 arrives we are talking about 13 years since the revival. No matter who Chibnall chooses the show will have the benefit of renewed interest but a female Doctor absolutely regenerates interest in the show to a expanded level. It pushes the show in a different direction and allows the series to break stories in a different way. From a creative standpoint that is gold.

Isn't it great that we're getting more Doctor Who, what ever time of the year it's on?

I thought the reason it wasnt doing well in the Autumn was because of them putting it later but also around Strictly.
But if it gives Chibnall enough time to finish one thing before he gets Who going fully, rather than having both side by side will help him focus

Enough of producers working on two things at the same time.

I don't see any problem with a wait. Anticipation is good. And I like that the schedule is more varied and flexible than "one series at the same time every year".
