Hey everyone,
What style of Doctor Who stories do you prefer? Personally, generally, my favourite Doctor Who stories are those with a strong horror-bent (Robots of Death, Horror of Fang Rock, Blink, etc)

Witty action-adventure stories with a nice horrific edge to them. Violence as a function of the plot rather than vice versa. Certainly more heavily inclined towards science fiction, but I can be assuaged to any genre if done with genuine feeling and/or a sense of fun. The more desperate the situation, the more inclined I am to probably to enjoy it.
Marco Polo, The Evil of the Daleks, The Brain of Morbius, Frontios, Vengeance on Varos, Battlefield and the like. There's a lot of variety there.

Scary, but with a hint of humour and a degree of invulnerability in the Doctor to offset the scare factors for the kiddies.
and a McGyvered solution to every problem.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I don't really have a preference, I just try and enjoy (or hate) the stories on their own individual merits (or flaws) Who is a format which lends itself to a vast range and variety of tones and stories and I'm constantly surprised by the experimentation and variety in the franchise 53 years on.

I like the traditional hide-behind-the-sofa episode. There's nothing better than a scary Doctor Who episode.

I'm a pretty big fan of historically set stories without any aliens. But I'm also just as much a fan of more horror-based stories and mysteries.

Anything can work for me (except musicals).
However, as a general matter, I am more intrigued the longer I am kept guessing. I find an immediate presentment of a threat followed by a bunch of action less engaging, but there are plenty like that that I've enjoyed anyway. In short, the quality of the writing is the overriding concern for me.

I've enjoyed all kinds of different Who stories, but the ones I tend to enjoy the most are horror stories and mysteries. "Blink" represents the kind of Who story I love most. It's frightening, but also quite a head scratcher. It really keeps you engaged wondering what's going on with the Doctor's strange DVD message while scaring the pants off you at the same time.
