I mean, it's 100% true - "An Unearthly Child" is strange, atmospheric and just a fantastic start, while the three episodes that follow it are rubbish by comparison.
BUT
I love the fact that it gets to be "oh it's gone downhill" as if episode two is the end all and be all of a show's success. Never change, humanity.

That is *very* funny, but very true also.
I forget when I first saw An Unearthly Child and the three that followed (some BBC anniversary special I think). But I remember how gripping the first episode was and what a crashingly tedious comedown the Tribe of Yawn was.
