They should win the NL Central, but I like the Cards enough for a wild card team Cleveland the AL Central Boston the AL East 3 teams will make the playoffs from the AL West, Texas, Houston & Seattle. Dodgers take the NL West and I like Colorado for a wild card spot And Washington Nationals will win the NL East, with the Mets the last team eliminated from playoff contention.
The Braves will win at least 81 games. The Tigers will be a huge seller at the trade deadline as will the Royals And Oakland & Milwaukee will each lose 100.

It's baseball. I never make predictions because they are almost always wrong. And as Jimmy Leyland always said, you are going to win 60 and lose 60. It's what you do with the other 42 that count. The big question is who jumps out to a big lead in April & May. I will say the Cubs remain loaded and that they were stunningly lucky the past two seasons as far as starting pitching goes. Which is something that was very much addressed this off season. That said, it is really hard to repeat because baseball.

I gave up on baseball after MLB did everything they could to ruin the Montreal Expos. Jeffrey Loria is a piece of trash and should never have been allowed to own another franchise after ensuring the Expos were nothing but a farm team to the rest of the majors.

I loved the Expos. And the would have won the series if the walkout had not occurred. But look at Oakland and Tampa, they are on the same boat. No one goes to games. Montreal should have had a lot of fan support, but they wouldn't come out. That

There has been a lot of discussion that when/if MLB expands again Montreal will be at the front of the line. And yeah, no arguments on Loria.

Heard on MLB Network on XM, that Loria had a hand shake deal to sell the Marlins, for a billion dollars. Not a bad deal after you get the town of Miami to build you a stadium.

Despite the mayor of Montreal being in favour of bringing a team back it is highly unlikely.
The provincial tax system has long been a problem source for the NHL, CFL and MLB - as many top players don't want to pay the high taxes. Getting a new stadium built in Montreal is highly unlikely as they only in the past few years paid off the Olympic Stadium. The Big Owe needs to be demolished but it is apparently cheaper to keep fixing it than it would be to destroy the dump (ironically, the parking lot is actually built over an old dump).
And finding owners willing to pay for a good on field product will be hard. The fans stopped going to games when the owners kept giving away all the good young stars and gave them nothing to cheer for.

That's basically what happened to the Marlins, also. They do have a lovely new stadium - that is routinely under filled.

He gave them 2 world titles in their first dozen years, and still no one came.

Huizenga bought a World Series team and sold it off right after they'd won. I was at game 7 of that first World Series with my family. I don't recall exactly what year Loria bought the team but he promised not to do what Wayne had done. Keeping that promise hasn't worked out so well. :-\

I think the town of Miami paid for the stadium, and a working class family of 4 cant afford to go to a game, that's the downfall of baseball in Miami. It doesn't help that everytime they win the thing, they dismantle the team the next year, but if nobody comes out to see them, you cant afford to keep them. MLB tickets have become overpriced, the owners have forgotten that empty seats don't buy popcorn or soda, or beer. There are still cheap seats, in the nosebleed section, but a decent seat, just aint in the pay check for most folks. I get season tickets to the Astros rookie league team for 195 a year, that's 34 home games, I also go a few times a year to the Smokies(double A Cubs) games, and its bout 12 bucks a ticket, more for beer, more for soda and hot dogs(and you have to pay for parking, lousy blankety blank blanks). But at least minor league baseball is comparable to a night at the movies in price. The major leagues, are still cheap, if you live in San Diego and have an awful team year after year.

I'll explain, ive told my kids for years, that the only reason the Marlins won the 97 series was me...It's about superstitions....That was the only year I ever bought Directv's extra inning package, just to watch the Marlins, and everytime I got to watch, they won...I didn't see them lose a game until the playoffs...And I don't care what anybody says, Dennis Cook was their MVP, that fella musta pitched every day...But without me, and my watching them, they win nothing I'm not conceited, I'm convinced...Anyway, I like the story...Still aint ever been to an MLB game...and yeah, I know the stories crap! But it's mine, and I'm keepin it.

The WBC has kicked off. Does anyone really care? Israel pulled off a big time upset in the first game. Does anyone really care? Only 28 days until opening day, now that makes me care.

Interesting bit of sports trivia. The Marlins are the only team in professional sports to ever win their sports championship without ever winning their division. And they have pulled it off twice. It is really kind of amazing when you think about it.

It is really kind of amazing when you think about it. I think it was easier then cause there was only 1 wildcard team. But during their 14 strait division titles, the braves only got the ring once and the Marlins twice...

You are certainly right about the price of MLB tickets, and it's not just in Miami. Back in the day, we used to sit in the upper deck in what they called the "Fish Tank" for next to nothing. Now, it's over $100 for a family of 4 to go to a game in the cheapest seats just to get the seats, never mind parking, drinks/snacks and souvenirs. Minor league baseball is still a pretty good deal to go to a game. Football is even worse. I haven't been to a Dolphins game since I moved back to Miami. Not that a Dolphins game is worth watching anymore, anyway. We still go to Heat games sometimes.

Well, my astros are the first to 40 wins. The cubs look bad, and the Yankees are gonna be a good team for a very long time, again.
The baseball season for me kicks off in under 3 weeks now, as the Greeneville astros will take the hill.
Here's hoping the Houston team keeps on winning.
