I feel like we did this on Friday somehow...
Did you cover in the spoiler section, though? I didn't find discussion of the announcement anywhere else, so I think this thread is warranted
You'll find it all in the Series 10 thread.

I'm more concerned about the quality of the writing than if the characters gay, as long as Bill is given some depth & heart so we can empathize with her character that's all that matters.

I'm rather liking the concept of her character at the moment (i.e. the enthusiastic and curious companion with a drive to explore the cosmos), but that could all come crashing down if handled improperly. I didn't like her in the "Back to the future" teaser where she just gabbled the stock companion phrases (which basically amounted to "I'll critique story mechanics while I walk"), but I warmed to her in the most recent trailer with a fearless Doctor and a more skittish Nardole in the slow-motion exploding library. Fingers crossed for Pearl Mackie to be given a worthwhile character to play, someone we can enjoy investing our time in and cheer on.

Except of course I don't really have much expectations except a well developed character

That may well be the most random reason I've ever heard for not being sure of a character. Hey, we all got likes and dislikes, I was actually thinking about this one, and I think it goes way back to my early childhood (aged perhaps 3) and for some reason I became very alarmed and weirded out by the cartoon "The Hair Bear Bunch". heh, my dad had an afro in the early 70s and I prominently display the family portrait, he hates that picture. so I get where you are coming from.

Right. Calm down Apart from izzy... dwm We all know that the first lesbian companion was called ADRIC. Just look at that hair. now hold on. I've told my youngest daughter I've been a lesbian my whole life. And she's a lesbian, Adric is in no way a lesbian. Homosexual, maybe, none o sexual, probably, cause he was running round the starfish with a half naked Nyssa most of his adult life, and I don't remember his eyes ever buggin outta his head.

Well, the marsh folks looked A-sexual, but do you ever think like, Captain Kirk was never told to get his tongue outta some woman's nose, was he? male, I think so, but nothing that boy ever did showed he was anywhere near a grown man, very little he did even showed he was as far advanced(cept for his math skills) as most pre-teens today. I still cant figure out parents who let their pre-teens and teenagers get gender surgery, my daughter told me she didn't know she was a lesbian until late in high school, and with what she's finding out bout women, well, most of the ones she's dated have been lazy bums, coarse I know a lot of men like that too. Sorry, off topic rant, but it is a gay titled thread so I'm sorta there, ok, not really.

Look, Adric's people were descended from spider things and marsh folk so who knows WHAT sexuality he had, if any, or even if he really was male? We saw what can be considered two distinct genders, but that doesn't necessarily discount the idea that there may have been more or that the distinction was a leftover bit of evolutionary hokum like the appendix in humans. The spiders were shown to be parasitical (or perhaps symbiotic, we were never given a clear indication) in nature, so perhaps they were an amalgam of the two interbreeding species? Being descended from an arachnid necessarily doesn't preclude live births (as we see in scorpions), but for all we know the Alzarians may have lain eggs and been a species that for a long time thrived on insect life. Here's an interesting question though... Considering that Alzarius occupies the negative spatial coordinates of where Gallifrey would likely be in N-Space, what connection do the two planets have in common beyond their relative coordinates? Were the extinct Terradonians who were wiped out and usurped by the native Marshmen E-Space's equivalent of Time Lords? Or maybe even the Marshmen themselves?

Well, as it said, they don't let girls down into the mine. "I can't believe I kissed you." "It must've been your lifelong ambition!"

I'd go further - the best BF Doctor Who product of 2016, followed by UNIT: Silenced.
