That's...that's just stupid. Why so? Well, it has already been used by Adams himself for one, and two, it's a stupid story. It really is. Check out the summary! Feel free to disagree with me, it barely works in "Life, the Universe and Everything" and that's only because of the whimsical nature of the series in the first place. Adams was well over rated, and I actually LIKE HHGTTG! But that's barrel scraping through the bottom.

We've no idea what James is going to do with it.

It's why I'm always in favour of letting fandoms create new material rather than trying to sink it like with Star Wars and Star Trek. That's something I'd take with a small european salt mine! Fandoms are like everything else, opinionated and frequently strident about their pet niche projects. Sometimes they get it so right, but no more than anyone else does. They should be allowed to at least try though, surely? Otherwise, we wouldn't have Big Finish Productions because we wouldn't have had Audio Visuals.

I'm not sure what madness is happening in Trek but I'm all in favour of where Star Wars is going for instance.

For Star Wars, are you talking about the new continuity or something else?

Well I'm a fan of The Clone Wars and Rebels, so that continuity works for me, and I won't speculate on where The Last Jedi will take us. There was a lot of the EU I enjoyed but it did need some pruning! But I like what they're doing, Thrawn is reintroduced and so on. We'll see.

I also quite enjoyed Life, the Universe and Everything, though I admit it's not as good as the original HHGTTG. I'm actually intrigued with what James will do with it.

The Clone Wars had a rough start (like a lot of good series), but I enjoyed it quite a bit once it got traction and Rogue One has got to be my favourite film outside of The Empire Strikes Back. Yes, I think that's what upset most people, the Timothy Zahn trilogy got wiped and Thrawn, Pellaeon, Mara Jade and a variety of other characters introduced during that period seemed to have been erased from existence. Can't say that The Force Awakens was a patch on Heir to the Empire (the influence of that novel elsewhere was rather startling to discover), but we'll see what they do with The Last Jedi.

Well, I have to admit I'm an Ahsoka Tano fan, and would love to see what happens next. Great that they have Timothy Zahn creating for Thrawn again since it's his character, and Rukh will be appearing in Rebels Season 4. Plus seeing Chopper and the Ghost in Rogue One was a win for me

The problem is BF have kind of cornered the market - there's always going to be a pull from a great deal of the audience who want something closer to the real thing and that's what Big Finish have provided, particularly since we're now living in the revival era. (Not dissmissing the great relationship that exists between BF and BBC Books) BF puts out a lot of regular content and a regular line of books would be in the shadow of that and I'm not sure if BBC Books would be prepared to run agasint that, even if BF crossed over elements.
The Past Doctor books of the last few years seem primed to be more of an event to catch intrest - novelising a 'lost' Douglas Adams story, pairing Doctors with big names, etc. It'd be fun to have an interconnected triolgey, released year after year, though.
