Hey everyone,
One day, it will happen. How do we want to see Big Finish handle John Simm's Master? Dramitising 'Harold Saxon''s rise to power could be chilling and there can be creative ways around the 'locked' timeline. Simm has often talked about wanting to play the role more traditionally and we know Big Finish will make the character work for both audiences.

I think you are spot on what I want. Both the Harold Saxon rise to power and more traditional stories with perhaps classic doctors. Saying that, I also want Derek Jacobi to return as well.

I think it depends on what Moffat does with the Simm Master during the curent season. If the story picks up with Simm right after he returns to the Time War, and follows him until he turns into Missy, then the only real space for BF to do new stories with him would be while he is Harold Saxon. If Moffat leaves things a bit more open ended, then BF can do all sorts of stories with the Simm Master.

I think if Derek Jacobi returned to the role in audio, I'd like it to be in a series dedicated to the Master like I, Davros, but set during the Time War instead. Maybe add some fuel to the theory of the War Chief being the Master all along - but neither confirming nor denying, of course, because that would just be no fun - experimenting on humans for the Time Lords' war effort. There's so many possibilities for a series centered around the Master.

That's a great idea about a potential I, Master(that or Me, The Master ) and him experimenting on humans and it being set in the time war. It would also be great if that they could do a boxset of Yana or a release in which The Master is shown to be on the "good" side compared to The Doctor.

Even if Yana's memories are fabrications the Doctor would recognise him and he doesn't, so realistically you've already had all the Yana stories you're going to get.

Also, Derek Jacobi's Master could have been working for the time lords and never had met The Doctor before Utopia.

Ten chats to Simm Master in The End of Time and it's pretty clear that Ten knew which incarnation was there. Do watch Utopia again! Yana gets to be the Master for about ten minutes tops.

Not at all, that's how I'd like BF to handle his Master.

John simms master...
Simply being told to shut up by beevers

Firstly, r.e Jacobi, I don't see the point of trying to have any War Doctor vs Master stories now, they wouldn't be quite the same without John Hurt. However, a follow up Gallifrey series with Ollistra, Leela and Jacobi guest starring would be perfect. This could be set much closer to a time when the War Doctor wants little to do with the Time Lords and they have to start entertaining more dangerous bedfellows.
Back to Simm, I'd love to see a reunion with Barrowman in Torchwood. There's also ample opportunity for a showdown with UNIT, but I'd genuinely love for a talented writer to find a way for Tennant and Simm to go head to head again. That's my challenge for BF!

John simms master... Simply being told to shut up by beevers Simm: it is a plan of such complex brilliance only a mind as grand as mine.. Beevers: ohh do shut up. It was her plan. Missy: ohh daddy is upset. Beevers: you're both older than I am, you shower of idiocy. I genuinely dread regenerating now.

Another one who's in no hurry for new Series Masters, Beevers and Mcqueen should be on TV.
At a stretch Gomez over Simm on BF one day maybe with 4th or 7th I could maybe see working both at full high theatrical mode.

I'd like to see Big Finish grant John Simm's wish to play the role darker. I like your suggestion of Harold Saxon's rise to power but I'd also like to see the 10th Doctor encounter him again. I don't know how it would work given that he died at the end of Last of the Time Lords and The Doctor wasn't aware of the ring that contained a part of him until The End of Time. Maybe 10 could encounter an earlier version somehow during Harold Saxon's rise to power? It would just be fun to hear David Tenannt Tennant and John Simm in the same audio box set rather than individually.

Give Matt Smith some Master stories finally? I can imagine that because Smith is always quite a flamboyant Doctor, perhaps contrasting him against a toned-down, more menacing Simm (which I believe they're going for with his return this year) would be great.

Exactly. And if it plays out the way I think it's going to, then Series 10 will leave enough wriggle room for more post TEOT Simm!Master stories, ideally with 11.

I just want John Simm to do Big Finish. Honestly even if it wasn't the Master I'd be happy.
