No singing equivalent of Eccleston, Smith, Tennant, Capaldi or Whittaker has ever auditioned for X-Factor. Shayne Ward, Joe McElderry, Olly Murs, Andrea Faustini and Leona Lewis. Personally I wasn't that fussed about Shayne Ward and Leona Lewis during their time on X Factor but I cannot deny that they are hugely talented and have very powerful voices. The point of talent shows is that you are voting for the whole package - talent, performance, personality, their appearance. I don't get why people seem to count talent shows as reality shows as they're completely different genres IMO. Reality shows are much more about personality whereas talent shows are more specific. I suggest you go and have a lie down, this is completely bonkers as no BBC executive would touch this absurd idea with a barge pole, let alone a number of well known and unknown actors would drag themselves through this visual torture, I'm afraid to say. Go and watch all four series of Torchwood for the first time if you're craving for Jack so much. You haven't watched Torchwood, which in itself is equally bizarre due to the way you keep banging on about wanting to see more of Jack on TV. What exactly is stopping you watching Torchwood anyway?

Money. I'm genuinely sorry to hear that money is tight for you at the moment, I got the impression from your few recent BF New Series purchases that spends were okay. Maybe you could put away £2 a week for a few months instead of buying a McDonalds or something and save up for it?

I think all of us can sympathize it's surprising how quickly ''I'll buy a couple of stories to see how Doctor Who works on audio...'' leads to ''I'll get out my colour coded spreadsheet and crosscheck which 10 stories from this sale I have yet to purchase'' BF is a wonderful, talented company that produces great story after story and it's a pleasure to support them, but my funds only go so far and the pre-order offers are very tempting... *I don't actually have a colour coded spreadsheet (yet), but you get the point. (Though I don't think ''Big Finish-it's better than alcohol!'' would be a very appropriate marketing phrase )

And Ooooh! *in voice of Homer Simpson sighting an especially tasty doughnut*: "colour coded spreadsheet...." I kid you not, this very day I was considering creating a spreadsheet to keep track of all my BF purchases. In defence of such total geekery, with an eclectic mix of download-only and CD-with-download purchases from BF and CDs bought from other places, it's tricky sometimes to remember what I do and don't have in which format. (Hmm, colour coding, files idea for reuse... )

I'd like Captain Jack to come back (even though I've seen all of Torchwood) because I like when anyone comes back (the world is a better place in my opinion for Christopher Benjamin making a brief NS cameo, and he wasn't even playing Henry) - but then again the show can't be all about people returning, and I'm agreed with davygallagher that we might not be able to expect much new from the relationship between Jack and The Doctor (unless maybe Jack dialed it back on the flirting, in which case I'd probably wonder who he was and what he'd done with Jack). I have a color-coded spreadsheet for DW DVDs with all kinds of notes (which episodes come with The Doctors Revisited was very handy to add) and price comparisons on it. My Big Finish spreadsheet didn't actually need to be color-coded by range but that helps me know where I am when I'm scrolling down the page quickly. Mainly I made that so I could keep track of main credits and guest appearances - who wrote or directed my favorite stories, and what's a story where Dan Starkey isn't playing a Sontaran (after just having had a Sontaran marathon), that sort of thing. What's scary is finding pieces of paper covered in numbers where it looks like I thought if I recalculated something the seventh time, the price was actually going to come down. :-) (Though I don't think ''Big Finish-it's better than alcohol!'' would be a very appropriate marketing phrase ) Probably very true, but it is exactly the sort of thing I told myself while diverting a lot of funds toward Big Finish purchases :-) I can indeed think of far less healthy (and more expensive) habits than a Big Finish addiction. I actually do count myself lucky.

Yes, I'm sure an incredible 1,000 people voting for Jack when Chibnall wants an audience in the high millions is going to give him pause for thought. If it were up to fan votes, we'd have The Doctor fighting Daleks every week and Tom Baker and David Tennant would just alternate in the role. Diehard fans cannot dictate the direction of the show or we'd end up with some of the messes we got when JNT pandered to the convention go-ers and forgot the public. I have ZERO issue with Barrowman coming back....if there's a story worth telling. Not because a few hundred fans online asked for it. Again - you've not even watched Torchwood. Save up for that, you can buy it dirt cheap and you'll get LOADS of Captain Jack there.

So he'll completely ignore them then.
No way he'll bring back anyone in the 1st series (or certainly just not the basis of Fan Polls)
But unless he massages the main-stream Press which I have serious doubts he will, its all on his script organization and Jodie's take on it, that will stop ANY criticism.
I personally wouldn't have 2 companions in the Doctor's debut series now it short-changed character development in the 11th Doc Era IMO.

Seemed to work well for the public though, Mark. Series 5 and 6 with the Ponds did very good numbers. Matt's Doctor was so large a presence that it worked fine. A more subdued Doc...you may be right. I like different dynamics in the TARDIS. Like when Jack and Rose travelled with Eccleston and Mickey would show up. I've never believed in JNT's "crowded TARDIS" crap - good writers can find a use for everyone.
