Yeah, that's sort of the reaction I got from a girl I took on a date back in high school. Orrrr.....you got the reaction because you played a Doctor Who audio play. On a date. With a high school girl. The thought did occur to me... A bit later than it probably should have, all things considered, but at least I eventually got there in the end.

I would hate that.
Rex was a hothead, but he had a sense of right and wrong. He's not the type to become anybody's dark twin.

Back on Rex for a moment, I always thought that given the personality of the character, and the kinds of hotheaded choices he tends to often make, that he would have been a great eventual adversary for Jack. Someone whose arrogant qualities and newfound immortality combines to see him slip further and further into darkness. He would see his actions as necessary and justifiable, even as they became more and more extreme, and in response Jack would go from initially trying to help him cope and understand his new 'gift', trying to stop his slide into darkness, then trying to bring him back even when everyone else has given up on Rex, to eventually being forced to accept who Rex has become, and them becoming the worst and most deadly of enemies. Enemies where most of the real damage is collateral, affecting those closest to them, while they have to each bare the burden of those around them that have been hurt or lost. Basically, Rex would ultimately become Jack's own personal Master or Moriarty. His shadowy equal. And if we think about the kinds of things that Jack has done and justified as a 'good guy', imagine what kind of horrors Rex could justify after falling into the ends justifies the means territory... Hell, that's what I'd do, anyway. I like the idea of Jack facing someone with his abilities and I'd be excited to see it explored in a future story, but I'm not so sure it should be Rex.

I'm sure it shouldn't be Rex.
Not as described in the proposed story line, anyway.

Where's Mark687? I got the news item up in the Big Finish Updates thread and I felt sure he'd get this thread done before I could get to it, but Scott's had to post the link himself.
Anyway I'm off to listen to it now

Right I'm back from listening to it, and yes I liked the sound of it. I'm not normally a trailer fan as too often they're just random people saying things against a background of weapons fire and explosions. We don't know who the people are or what the context is so it's really hard for them to have any impact. While this one definitely had some of that going on there was enough about it, especially Jack's bits, to get me really excited about this release. Admittedly I was already, but the trailer has added to it.

Right, me lovelies. This is my situation - can anyone advise? I didn't particularly like the television series, but I think the BF audios are wonderful. So, then - do I get this? Thank you.

Even as a fan of the television series (even Miracle Day!), the BF stuff has been bloody brilliant, so, yes! By all means, get it!

Thank you. get "outbreak" first, that will give you a chance to get used to torchwood on audio, is a brilliant multicast epic......a proper torchwood episode and is really one of the best things BF have done (although I have been saying that a lot these days) the series are great but tell stories that are smaller scale and more personal, there have been some brilliant ones too, the yanto on a plane "fall to earth" is a particularly good one to try. the other two special releases "archive" & "before the fall" are very different in both pace and tone from the rest, although good I would fall in love with the other releases before going on to these. hope this helps a bit and here's hoping series 5 is as good as we are all hoping for. otherwise can we have more from the fab five team era or magic trio era.

Thanks for that, my friend. Of the audios you mention, I don't have Outbreak or Archive. Fall to Earth is excellent, I agree, and my one foray into 'fullcast' territory Before the Fall is very good (I bought it mainly because of Yvonne Hartman, who I think is a great character). At the moment, financial considerations mean that if I get Outbreak, I won't be able to get the Aliens Among Us bundle. It's a dilemma! Edited to add: reading back, I don't think I made it clear - I have most of the Torchwood audios from BF, and I much prefer them to the majority of what I saw on television. Unlike everyone else on the planet, my favourite TV episode was probably From out of the Rain.

Double Checked with BF "Bundle price won't go up until the last Boxset has been out for a bit", so after February 2017
