Saw Covenant yesterday and have to say, while in some parts its a good film, in others it made me irrationally angry.
Its some of the choices that Ridley has made in making the movie that got to me. Especially concerning David's actions and the ending of the movie
What about all you out there? what did you think?
By The Way SPOILERS APLENTY

That's the last post I'm reading here until I see the film Cheers Tony I decided to keep the opening comment mostly vague so people who hadn't seen it didn't get too much revealed

Well, I loved that. A fantastic coda to the themes of the series and some nice little homages to all four films. Despite David, despite everything, that hope does stand. The Alien franchise truly is closed now.
Look, I'm not a big fan of Prometheus, but I did like Shaw....I'm not denying what she did to David wasn't messed up. It was. Whatever she saw, it broke her. And it broke him to see her broken, especially after commiting genocide for her. Seeing her clinging to old songs in lieu of the truth, was so powerful and tragic.
As someone who would have prefered it if never an explanation for anything Xenomorph related, I think the explanation given was fitting given the themes of the series. I won't consider Prometheus or Conevant part of my personal canon, because I like my monsters scary and unknown, but still.

Saw this last night. Not as bad as Prometheus Not sure the film really added anything to the Alien-verse More questions than answers (again) Struggling to see how it all gets to "Alien" Did Ridley Scott think he was doing Blade Runner instead of Alien?
Cheers

Probably. Scott keeps changing his mind about story elements, which makes him as bad as David Giler in my mind

Not going to bother watching it, Prometheus was a confused disappointing mess, I hated Alien Resurrection and what I watched of the AVP films...Alien 3, especially in the directors cut has quite a lot going for it but I still consider the franchise to have ended after Aliens, every time they've tried to expand on the Alien universe and mythology since they only end ruining some of the magic rather than building on it i.m.o.
(On the other hand, I can't wait for Blade Runner 2)

I watched this at the cinema last week. An improvement on Prometheus but still not a stand out film for me. The cinemptography was outstanding though.

For me what makes it lower on the list for me is some editing choices, some of the CGI when it could have been practical and also some story issues. It could have been so much better and less rushed

From what Ive heard the Alan Dean Foster Novelisation is far superior to the actual film
