about 7 million folks in retail could lose jobs because of robots? will this decrease costs of goods? I don't think so. I just think it will increase profits. Especially if the minimum wage increases. The retail giant(Wal-Mart) will not lose money. They'll figure out a way to keep on making it.
I know ive heard about driverless cars and big rigs coming soon. But I don't think id jump in one just yet. Think about it, how many times has your GPS got you lost, or took you on a road that is closed. Right where I live, the GPS still shows a roadway, but the bridge was torn down over 5 years ago now. And how many roads have you driven on with no lines? Like during construction, where the road veers to the right or left for a mile or 2 while they are doing roadwork. Keeping up to date on the roads will be a problem for driverless vehicles to overcome.
Reminds me of a story I first heard in the 70's when cruise control first made its appearance. A man bought a camper and he set the cruise control. Now he was on a straitaway and let go of the wheel. The camper maintained it's speed, and being new, it didn't pull one way or the other on the wheel, mostly because the tires were properly aligned. So he went into the back to use the bathroom. Can you guess what happened? Rolled it over. Now I don't know if that was a true story, ive always doubted it. Still I could see somebody doing that way back when.
Robots to mow my yard will be good. Though the Roomba robot to clean the floors don't really clean that well. So my yard might look like crap when they start.
