Hey everyone,
So, apparently Sony is making a Venom film....but without Spider-Man?
I don't see this working, guys.

Tom Hardys been cast so that means more grunting & incoherent mumbling.
It might be good but I'm far more excited about Spider-Man Homecoming.

Tom Hardy's a good choice, but I think this movie will flop without the MCU connection. It seems daft to separate it from Spider-Man's current universe because it'll alienate fans and the casual audience won't have a clue who Venom is. Neither of these would be issues if it were MCU Venom.

You'll have to forgive me but i loathe Tom Hardy & find him extremely overrated as a actor, i agree however this being a stand alone film & not a MCU isn't the best idea.

I'm not sure the majority of cinema goers who aren't comic book fans understand the concept of shared movie worlds and probably won't realise this movie is separate. In my head-canon for example the x-men movies can quite happily sit in the same world as the MCU. I really am not impacted at all by whether the studio put in place a legal fig leaf to say otherwise.

I'm not sure how you could place any film that's not Marvel/Disney in the MCU unless you say they are multiverses.

I lost interest when Tom Hardy name appeared, expect a lot of Venom grunting.

I can put my x-men and fantastic four discs in the MCU if I want.

Sony has a really solid track record of s***ting the bed with Spider-movies, and I expect them to continue to disappoint. I love Tom Hardy. Honestly his casting is the only thing that has me interested in this movie--the idea of non-MCU Spider-movies just holds no interest for me.
