What a great shame, but what a good age. RIP, Batman.

Holy sad news, Batman. But a legacy of happy memories for my generation. If you were a 70s kid like me, 'Batman & Robin' was a part of TV life like 'Doctor Who' and the repeats of 'Star Trek'.
Colourful, corny, campy and comical, it was a wonderfully straight-faced superhero send-up packed with Pow! Splat! comedy 'violence' and villains and Escapes From Certain And Over-Complicated Death.
Everyone my age knew Adam West's brilliantly deadpan performance as Batman and his light-hearted version of the character became an icon of popular culture in its own right.

RIP
I think the repeats on Channel 4/ BBC 2 as a kid was my first experience of Super Heroes
And his stuff in Family Guy...

Another icon of my childhood gone, and once again I'm at a loss for words. But my, what a legacy.
Thanks you for all the happiness and joy you brought this misfit kid growing up, and for being the reason I became a huge Batman fan to begin with, something I still am to this very day. Vale Adam West.

but who will dance the batusi now?
Farewell to a great performer
..at least as long as it wasn't supposed to be serious (Warning - stay away from the film "Warp Speed" - a science fiction horror film in which Adam West played the captain of a doomed crew on a trip to Saturn)

I'm glad he got to be Batman again, with Burt Ward as Robin, as voices in the recent Batman 66 animation.

There's a sequel to that which was due for release later this year, this time with Batman and Robin going up against Two-Face (voiced by William Shatner), a villain who famously never appeared in the original 60's TV series. Hopefully all of Adam West's voice work was already completed for it, as it would make for a nice final gift for the fans, and a fitting remembrance for the great man himself.

Holy heartbreak, this is a gut punch, while Nolans Dark Knight films are my favourite & i like my Batman dark & gritter you cannot take away how much campy fun the tv series is & Adam West been a great ambassador for the role especially at conventions.

It was my boys' 1st birthday party yesterday and his cake was decorated with a pic of 60's Batman.. :-( He was my Batman, clearly remember watching repeats in the very early 80's..

Hello again.
Such a shame to lose a charming actor that didn't take himself too seriously. I loved his portrayal of Batman. He was deadly serious but there was always a underlying tone in his voice that 60s Batman was colourful, camp and fun.
I also enjoyed his performance as the, crazy as a box of frogs, Mayor West in Family Guy. Wonderfully eccentric, he is irreplaceable in that role and will be missed
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

It's been confirmed that West did finish his recordings for this. The story itself is based on on unused script from his series. The Batman '66 comic adapted it a few years ago as well.
