Now then - just to get this straight in my head. The tease that Jason Haigh Ellory made a while back about 'getting back' a contract that was 'lost' ten years ago (is that right?) - we now know that refers to the Time Master. Have I got that right, or is it something else? I think that's something totally different. Cheers Tony Thanks. Still hopeful for more Tomorrow People then

They said more time war announcements soon and they've just announced McGann so it won't be him, nor sadly will it be Hurt. My bet is a non-Doctor tine war story and given the Utopia anniversary I would guess Jacobi as the time war master. Applause! Applause! Great deduction - or have you been at the Time Visualiser?

I'm not sure there has been quite so much excitement on here as I expected (after first going to Big Finish, wowwww-ing, recovering my breath and logging in on DU ) so here goes: WOW! That is absolutely, utterly brilliant news! The standout hairs-on-the-back-of-my-neck moment of the entire pre-Capaldi new series was... 'I am not the Professor... I am the Master and you will obey me, you will obey me...' I started off my 'Doctor Who' life with classic series 8 in 1971, so the original Master, played magically by Roger Delgado, was as much a part of 'Doctor Who' for me as the Doctor or Jo. In that one brief TV appearance, Sir Derek Jacobi recaptured the Master as I had always thought he should be - charming, suave and wicked (in both senses of the word.) The Master will smile politely as he shrinks you into oblivion; a charismatic, urbane evil genius - not a cavorting jester. For me it was one brilliant glimpse of what might have been, but sadly, the Master regenerated and the moment passed - a huge disappointment. To say I am thrilled about the chance to see this Master at work in the Time War is an understatement!

Whoa, hold up! I just realized that the Gallifrey page only lists Lalla Ward and Lou Jameson. WHERE IS SEAN CARLSEN?!

The War Master news is cool. It's nice to have Jacobi back as the Master, as I always felt like he was wasted in Utopia (he was only really the Master for what, two minutes?). Not one of those "WOW I MUST BUY IT NOW" releases though.
It's nice that Gallifrey: Time War is finally on the site and definitely set in stone, given that the news came through a couple of months ago.
Tales of New Earth... right. Think I'll be giving that one a miss, unless it gets great reviews.

War Master? I never saw that coming... but it's great news. Looking forward to that.
I'm not bothered about the other stuff though.

Interesting to see, on the technical info tab, that the Gallifrey release is a 5 disc. Four story box set with a bonus materials disc? Been a while since we've seen that! (Gallifrey series 4, if I remember right)

I know the name has already been used, but a 'Two Masters' set that gave us a story about what the Jacobi Master was doing during the Time War, and exactly when and why he fled, as well as another that detailed where the Simm Master went right after he left the Doctor, and gave us his rise to power during the Saxon years would both have some merit in my view. Hell, I'd buy them, anyway. Well, I was half right. And it was the more exciting half, at that. Very excited to not only hear Jacobi back and being given the opportunity to cement his version of The Master on audio, just as the late, great John Hurt did with the War Doctor. But because our lead character in this set isn't a good guy by any stretch of the imagination, it will force Big Finish, by its very nature, to tell a different type of story than their normal Who related output traditionally consists of, and that, too, is quite exciting. Roll on December. As for the other two sets, a Time War Gallifrey set was inevitable, but I'm still happy to see it happening. I would like to see some of the early series political intrigue return to the series, though. And in the shadow of the time war threat, it's a perfect place for it to do so. As for Tales of the New Earth, seems a bit of an odd choice. And one that's hard to get too excited about, to be honest, but wait and see what future details bring.

The War Master - I love it. I need it now. Gallifrey: Time War - I need to catch up with the rest of the series, but looking forward to this too. Tales of New Earth - Err… bit random, Big Finish. Are you drunk? Tales of New Earth - About as random as The Pigbin Josh Adventures would be. When is Pigbin Josh going to get his Limited Edition set?!? In all my years as a Doctor Who Fan, I have never seen anybody so obsessed with Pigbin Josh as much as you. I'm guessing The Claws of Axos is your favourite story, yes? I don't think a week goes by without you mentioning his name in relation to something or another, LOL. What is it about the guy that you like so much?

I'm not actually obsessed with him, I just find his infamous status within fandom quite funny.
