Never liked Iris. Most of the (very very) few BF purchases I regret involve Iris. Strangely enough I enjoy pretty much all Paul Magrs' other stuff, including ones that most others seem to dislike such as The Boy That Time Forgot.

Have to say if any Doctor Who releases are announced featuring Iris I would be very likely to pass on them.

I know this is the Iris thread, but I'd rather see Treloar appear opposite Beevers' Master, OR in a multi doc story, perhaps with Ten. (I know he's in TLATE but I mean in a much bigger role).

Yes. Anything with Iris is a definite must-buy. Still hoping that we'll get a new Iris boxset soon...

I wouldn't mind having more Iris. Haven't read or listened to that much with her - four stories so far - but I think she's a fun character and she never detracted from my enjoyment of the stories with her in it. So, I'm all for it.

I like the Iris character, woupd like to hear more of her in her own range. As far as a crossover, prefer a short trip to a longer story.

I've not heard any of the Iris audios (though I've read the EDA's she appears in) and I'm rather indifferent on the character, amusing and annoying in equal parts, though I do like the imagery of her flying Bus turning up at UNIT and instantly causing havoc, there's certainly a lot of potential comedy to be mined from the 3rd Dr/Iris pairing...

I like Iris. I love Tim Treloar's Doctor. But why put them together? Just because Katy Manning plays The Third Doctor's companion Jo? No, not for me.

I like Iris. I think she'd be a fun foil for the serious Third Doctor. But if she comes in, let it be a 2 part one hour story and the other story in the set a dark and serious six parter.

Have you heard The Womery? Iris is lot more toned down in that story plus the soundscape is wonderfully intimate. I have all of the Main Range and have listened to all of them. I repeat, I can't stand Iris. I'm not even fond of books featuring her.
I have to say I hated the character in the books. But I like the character on audio as played by Katy Manning. However, The Wormery is my least favorite release featuring Iris.

In her own series the Wildthyme Reloaded box set is probably the best season of stories. Looking for A Friend is easily the best Iris story because it isn't Iris drunk off her tits in some wacky adventure with something too strange even for Doctor Who, it's simply about Iris and a friendship that means a lot to her.

Too much can be way too much though. Iris works best when her wacky adventures, for example helping a guy become a dart themed demi-god, are balanced with her being wacky in a more recognisable setting, like solving a murder at an abbey. And yes, the dart-themed demi-god actually happened. Then there's the lift AI taking over the universe with a cat food jingle. It takes a lot to make the Scorchies seem normal. Kitty snacks kitty snacks.

I thought that in Excelis Dawns, 5th didn't recognize/know her. But maybe my memory is off again.

I would love that, especially in a post Green Death slot, with her trying to cheer him up and him begrudgingly letting her tag along. I think the emotional journey from where the Third Doctor is at the end of his fourth series to where he is at the start of the fifth has potential to be worth exploring, and it would allow them to do something new with the Third Doctor without having to do without the Divine Ms Manning.

In The Wormery the Sixth reflects that after Jo left he sought out Iris to spend some time with. She took it as a marriage proposal. It's not a gap explored very often. It's used for Council of War, where Benton observes the Doctor working at all hours. The Prisoner of Peladon explores a companion-less Third Doctor, and how that influences his behaviour.
